Want new .22

Looking at getting a new .22, but I'm not sure what to get. I really want to get a Ruger 22/45, but since my wife wants to use this, she wants a "regular" looking gun. Any advice? Ruger SR22 or Walther? What do you guys think?

I just picked up a Sig 1911-22 FDE. Basically 5" 1911 in size, accurate and very nice trigger.
Give one a look.

Luckily .22 pistols are fairly cheap -- buy one for you and her. Just make sure you get threaded barrels on them if you live in a state that allows suppressors. You'll be wanting to stick a can on them before too long!

I'm getting the 50th Anniversary Edition of Ruger's 10/22 around the end of August, maybe sooner, depending on how much I'll be making at the new job I start monday, but I'm betting I'll have to wait until the end of the month either way.

Rimfire Forum

It's gonna be my Appleseed LTR (Liberty Training Rifle).

I think the OP was just interested in handguns.

Get her an SR22, and get a 22/45 for you. There. Problem solved.

Well yeah, but I figured I'd throw my .02 in and see if I can't help him decide that why should he settle for one when he can have more?

Don't let your wife bring you down, I vote for buy everything.

Maybe I'm just old, but what about an SR22 is more regular looking than a .22-45? I think the .22-45 with the wood grips is a nice looking gun with pretty classic lines. Take her to a range and shoot both. If she still wants the SR at least they aren't that expensive.

For a regular looking gun take a look at the 4" SP101 22lr. It's a little more coin but damn they are nice!

The 101 is a very nice revolver, BUT heavy. For that coin, i'd get as mentioned, the LCR in 22. I picked up one last year. Fun to shoot, fairly accurate once you decide which 22 it likes. Plus it makes a great belly gun, when your out on the town and UOD doesn't allow for your regular CCW.

Anything but the Walther P22 or any of the other junk Umarex builds.

As far as a "regular" looking gun is concerned, a Ruger Mark series is a regular looking rimfire.

No, its not made by Walther. It's made by the same airsoft company who builds the Walther P22. They built to cheap airsoft standards from zinc and plastic.

Umarex is the name.

Another vote for the SR22. Get one with a threaded barrel.

You really cannot go wrong with a Ruger rimfire.

Yeah, I agree Greg

I like pretty much all the Ruger rimfires. Even the SR22 appears to be of decent quality.
