My first car... (which I never ended up getting to use because my parents got rid of it before I got a drivers license) was a 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.

At the time I was glad I didn't end up with that car, but now I really wish I had it. Who cares if it gets probably 10 mpg, it would be a pimp-mobile.

1967 VW beetle. The first year of 12 volt electrical system, and 1500cc engine. Last year of the swing axle.

I had an early 67, as it had round mirrors and the antennae was on the quarter panel. Late 67 production went to squared off mirrors and moved the antennae to the cowl.

Paid $600 for it with 35k miles.

I drove some hand me downs from my folks first, but the car I would consider MY first car was a 1971 Super Beetle. I still have the itch for VW beetles because of that car.

now one of those hand me downs from mom before the beetle was a 1975 Mercury Marquis Broughm. Talk about a land yacht, and it had a 460 4 barrel in it and man that thing would pass anything but a gas station.

1975 Mercury Bobcat station wagon...white with wood paneling...sweet ride!

I was about to post mine, but just realized that the answer to the question is my security question on about 50 accounts.

74 Camaro, red with a black vinyl top and Cragars. Yeah, I know - typical Jersey boy car.

Believe it or not, I never got pulled over in that car.

1959 Chevrolet Impala, similar to the one in this picture.
283 cubic inch V8.

I loved it. Unfortunately it was stolen and stripped.

1973 Toyota Carina

Yellow with black vinyl roof.
No power steering and 5-speed.
Dad bought it new with the only requirement from my mom being that he NOT buy a yellow car.

I learned all sorts of things in that car. The only thing that stopped it was the guy it was sold to wrapped it around a power pole. He then sold the engine, so presumably it may still be running somewhere.

1965 Ford Falcon Futura with a 250 ci straight six and a manual 3 speed transmission on the column when I turned 16. Of course it stayed in my father's name because I was too young to own it. I also had to ferry my 14 yo brother in it and run errands for my parents on demand.

First car that was actually mine was a new 1973 Vega GT. I really liked it until the plastic coating on the cylinder walls burned off and the body started rusting, took about two years. Yeah, I could use a refund too. I replaced it with a used 1973 Chevelle Malibu. Thing was enormous and even with a 350 ci engine performance was lacking. Still had a lot of fun in it and girls liked it. Put my first aftermarket stereo, Alpine, and speakers in it.

1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 (when I was 14) Blew the engine up. Why is my engine making a funny knocking sound?

1968 Chevy Impala coupe (when I was 16) Totaled out in a one car accident - in pursuit of physics knowledge - can I go around a 45 MPH curve at 90 MPH? YES! Can I go around a 45MPH curve at 105? NO!

1969 Chevelle SS396 (at 17) Dam why did I ever sell this car.

You know you're getting old when you see cars on the road that were brand new when you were in High School that now have historic tags.
