Automatic knives

I'm in the market for an auto knife. I am running into a lot of sites that require me to be military or leo to purchase one. It's pretty annoying when they are completely legal in my state. Any who, I'm thinking about the Protech Godson but can't find the all black version in stock (bladehq/bladeops). Anyone know of some websites that have them in stock and will sell to the average joe?

I was wondering about that myself. Here in TX after 9/1/2013 "auto knives" will be legal.

Thanks fx. Would you happen to know if this is a reputable website?

From what I understand there is a Federal law about shipping across state lines unless you are Military or Leo. Lots of websites ship anyway. Doesn't matter if they are legal in your state or not. Feds aren't enforcing the law at this time.

I would not own an automatic knife. I believe that they can open automatically in one's pocket, possibly causing serious injuries. I am a lifetime knife collector, with many, many knives.

What is the difference between flicking the switch on an automatic knife and opening a liner-lock folder? One millionth of a second?

Protech snaps hardest, good hard use (tr3), benchmade best features and good hard use (auto stryker)and microtech best otf (sharp, light, but thin blade). I've always liked the stiletto type protechs but keep in mind the thin points on them. Keep searching online like arizonacustomknives and bladehqand try local shops.

I got it covered. And as for bladehq, that was my first stop. However as already mentioned, it's out of stock...

Thanks for the info. I've checked local shops but the price difference is pretty ridiculous. 155 (shipping included) on the net or 220 + taxes local. Seems like a no brainer to me.

One millionth of a second plus 1000 coolness points...

Now that is one COOL knife! I love automatics just because of their coolness factor.

funny you say this because I have received 5 emails from them in about 3 hours. 2 claiming I emailed them and they will respond within 24 hrs. 2 confirmation emails with slightly different wording and a 5th asking for a copy of my drivers license.

The last email and the fact that no one is answering phones at 2pm on a Friday is a red flag in my book. I hope this goes through with no other "problems" but my moral is down.
