It's me or the gun!

I hear a lot of stories from guys who sold their guns because their fiancé laid down the ultimatum spelled out in the title.

I personally would take the ring back, sell it and put the money towards a new gun. What would you guys and gals do in that situation?

I wouldn't have even dated a girl with that mindset let alone asked her to marry me.

If she can't stand your habits why would you marry her?

She would be gone. Not just because of the guns but because she isn't mature enough to marry.

I would think the gun would be a non - negotiable item. It's a given.

It's a situation that should have been covered long before an engagement.

Actually I like chicks who are anti-guns and browbeat threir wussified SOs into getting rid of guns. It means I can get sweet irons for cheap. That's how I got my SIG Sauer P229s, one in .40SW and the other in .357SIG.

One of these days I'll get some good trading materials out of those two guns.

Women I date know about my weapons.

I would never get rid of my weapons for a women.

That would just leave me a wussified, defenseless, miserable man.

As someone once said men marry women and assume that they will never change and women marry men already planning how they are going to change them.

My fiance owns a whole slew of her own, including a PLR-16 and several "tactical" AR's including a Larue OBR, and could probably teach the majority of guys here a thing or two about running a rifle downrange.

Of all the fights we might have, guns isn't one. Except maybe who gets to shoot what at the range.

If they would toss down something like that, then they never loved you in the first place.

Exactly. Shooting is an important aspect of my life and any woman who is anti wouldn't last long.

How do you even get to the point of considering marriage before this comes to a head? Do they just spring that crap on you at the last second? If so, that's false advertising and breach of contract which means give me my ring back because I'm going to buy a new gun with the money.

If she was a perfect 10 with parts made of gold that shot lightening.... I might drag it out for awhile but she's still going to hear "It's me AND the guns or the road". Besides, those golden parts become less and less available after marriage and she's not going to be a 10 for more than a few years anyway.

Oh, yeah, that love thing... If she loved you she wouldn't ask you to give up your guns.

Last time a female I was dating told me to lose the guns I went out and bought a 500 magnum. You can guess which of the two is still with me.

The Mrs. once said to me, while we were dating, "take me shooting". Smart gal.

I need to get her back to the range.
