Lost a true legend today, Elmer T. Lee

He was a true master of his craft. RIP

I will be having a couple glasses of Buffalo Trace in his honor tonight.

I may crack my bottle before the Bulleitt is all gone.

I often wish I had the palate of these guys. I just don't. Some days, I do. But it's not consistent enough. :( Fascinating job.

Me too, I am fairly picky about what I like, but I just don't have a sophisticated palate.

Bulleit is some good stuff. Got a half bottle left on my desk. Might have to pay it a visit later.

I just missed him. Made my first visit to Buffalo Trace distillery outside Frankfort this year the day after Kentucky Derby.

That was a Sunday. Apparently on Tuesdays he would stop by the hand bottling and packing room. He would occasionally sign bottles of his personal invention, Blantons. I have a sealed bottle in storage, I should check it to see if he signed mine. Love the Blantons, a wheated bourbon.

I also love his namesake. Was pleased to see it show prominently on Justified a couple seasons back. Elmer T Lee is a great bourbon in its own right.

If the picture is where i think it is, i stood right there. On the tour of the rick warehouse, its right off the meeting room behind the book case that opens up to the warehouse entrance. They take the group down the aisle so you can get a whiff...which is what he's drinking now. The Angel's Share. And it is heavenly.

Rest in Peace, sir. Thank you for all your hard work and thoughtfulness. Ill drink a little extra for you.

Having some of his invention now, some Blanton's neat with a cold beer. We'll never forget you, Elmer.

Never been a bourbon man myself, but I'll tip a glass of Famous Grouse for him tonight.

I had a few sips of Buffalo Trace this evening in his honor. Best value in the spirit world.

I just purchased a bottle of Buffalo Trace two days ago, it is one of my favorites. Seems like a fine reason to open it tonite. R.I.P Mr Lee.
