Sometimes life just isn't fair. I didn't know Mark personally, but he responded to a few of my posts. The world does need more folks like him. There is nothing I can do for him, but in his honor, I am vowing to never post another negative or criticizing comment on GT.

If I can help someone, I'll try my best. If I can't, I'll just keep my mouth shut.

RIP Okie. We all have truly lost a special person.

I always loved to read Okie's posts. It's hard to believe he's gone. Indeed a true gentleman who always had a kind and friendly word for everyone. He will be missed by many who never met him in person, but his posts will live on and show what a good man he was.

What a terrible shame.

This was a guy who managed just in words on a screen to exhibit some of the finest qualities you could ever ask for -- good humor, common sense, tolerance, joy. Like most here, I never met him or likely ever would have. But he brought a measure of happiness into my life, like he did for everyone here.

Rest in piece, Okie. Going to have a "sammich" at lunch in your honor.

Crazy sad. Here one minute, gone the next. Life was way too short for Okie. Sure doesn't seem fair. I hope he can get a nice set of headphones for listening to his music in Heaven.

This sums up Okie very well.

While I didn't know Okie personally, the news of his passing saddens me. He seemed like a good, kind man who never met a stranger and had many who loved him. Rest in peace Mr. Mayor. You will be missed.

I was worried when he didn't chime in on his Birthday thread.

I never got to meet him in person, but we had some great conversations over Mexican breakfasts, he and I both had a love for good menudo. I always told him on my next trip down to Dallas I was going to swing by and take him out for a bowl.

RIP Okie.

Freakin' Jim Bianchi makes Okie look like Peter Dinklage in that photo. IIRC, it was you, me, Jim, John (Bates Motel), Tony, and Mark in that pic. I'll have to find it. Now I can post (with Mark's blessing) a never before seen candid shot of the Okster OUT OF UNIFORM!(No camo)

Perhaps, some of us here should do a buffet in honor. You, Jim, me and Tony if he's in town. What say you?

Me too. His absence after he posted about tests gave me a bad feeling. It's almost beyonf belief.
I'm going to miss him. I've had many a smiley fight and fed Alf to the cats.
So long, old friend.

I read this last night. Didn't hit me cause I was upset at some chick who I'd gotten into an argument with. Now that it has sunk in, I'm sorry that so many lost a good friend. He was nice to me as well.
