I would start with the sig and just keep saving so I could end up with them all.

From that list, M&P 9c without a second thought (for me).

Have you decided yet?

I love 9mm, but as a one and only gun, I'd lean towards something a little heavier, like the .40. And on that list, the M&P would be my choice. Second choice would be the Sig.

Pay a premium you will. About $750 give or take a $100 or 2. They are plentiful through private sale though, but you are correct that you can't buy a post-ban through an FFL nor can they buy one from you.

Well said, Bren.
For ccw and all around use, one of these K frames would be my choice.
3 inch S&W m13 round butt ( or the same in stainless ~ m65)

2.5 inch S&W m19/m66 round butt.

For the money...

with the guns that you list, the SR40 or 9 either one is a great gun. I have the SR9c as my carry gun, and it shoots straight as can be, small enough to carry fairly comfortably, and with the mag extensions in the 9 you can use 17 round mags.

Spending a little more, then I would have to echo the sentiments on the sig P229. I have had a couple of those, great guns.

I'll stick with the SIG229, .357SIG. (Of course you can get a .40 bbl. if desired, and still have just the one gun, and can use the same mags).

But, as an honorable mention, I must say that the S&W625 revolver is a marvelous handgun, although a little heavy. It is very accurate, and shoots .45ACP and .45AR equally well. I just wouldn't want to carry it all day. Also, the SIG239 is a fine gun, and should be mentioned as well. I've carried one for years; the only possible drawback is it only has a 7-rd. mag for .357SIG caliber, and you have to have separate mags if you want to switch to .40S&W. (Maybe S&W changed this on the newer guns; don't know).

Regards,
AK

2. Ruger SR1911 Commander .45
3. S&W M&P 9c 9mm
4. S&W M&P 40c .40
5. Sig Sauer P229 .40
6. Ruger SR9c 9mm
7. Ruger SR40c .40

Just those, no other choices. What would you go with?

I list just these because I live in a state that restricts what firearms you can purchase.

Thanks,
Sig P229 assuming it is the R (railed version) in SA/DA with a Short Reset Trigger. The regular trigger sucks.

Reasons:
It is a highly reliable firearm with parts that are readily available. Magazines are not expensive and are also readily available.

Capacity is up to 12rds plus 1. In a restricted State, you still have 11 rounds; better than the 1911.

Resale is great! I bought an old P229 (non-rail) and sold it for the same price I paid for it, three years later.
