Dental implants

long story short , any dentists here lol ?

friend of mine last week was in car wreck , investigation going on now to why the airbag did not deploy . he ate the steering wheel basically . looks like a hockey player lol . 5 teeth in front gone, i told him its long process first you gotta heal , then get the studs then months for them to heal then new crowns

what type of dentist to see ?
what to look for and ask about?
and there certain ones to stay away from ?
do they basically cost the same ?

i told him i only had experience one time few years ,kickback with air hammer knocked two teeth clean out . my implants then were 2,400 apiece .

he has no dental insurance , he ran off road and dead banged an oak tree.

anyone /?

He might have to bite the bullet on this one.

Dental technology has come a long way since 15 years ago, thanks to NASA technology and research. The most important thing is that the post(s) will hold. Bone grafting may or may not be necessary!

As you know it will be expensive. At least tell your friend to ask around for quotes. It can't hurt...

A conventional Dental Bridge may be in order. Cheaper too..

You got a bargain at $2400. Try 3X that today. Long process. The bridge idea puts lots of stress on the teeth anchoring the bridge............He needs to shop around and best of luck to him.

I had three dental implants done just a year ago. Quite a bit more expensive than yours, unfortunately. I don't think that insurance would matter since they seem to classify them as "cosmetic" and not covered. $20-30K wouldn't surprise me for five teeth. Might find it cheaper but not substantially. It's an elective specialized procedure and the people who do it need to get paid.

Mine took about a year start to finish but I understand that there is another technique where they place the implant at the same time that they remove the previous tooth. Don't have to wait for the bone to "fill in" first. Maybe that type would work for your friend and speed the process?

Ran across this thread. Maybe TX OMFS could provide some insight?
