Glad your daughter was ok. I showed this thread to a female friend of mine and she decided (after years of me suggesting that it would be a smart idea) to go apply for a pistol permit Monday after work. Thanks for posting and welcome to GT.

In my experiences, just because you don't read it in the paper/news doesn't mean it didn't happen.

See there the op done good. If all this results in a new chl holder fake or not we have something to celebrate. Get her training and make it fun. This can be a great addition to a relationship.

ETA: Sorry I assumed the relationship part.

No problem, you assumed correctly.

And good point about whether the OP was trolling or not.

Aaahh, 9 v 45 in disguise.
Shouldn't this thread be in the Caliber Corner sub-forum?

My best friend taught his daughter to fire his AR15 and his 8mm when she was 3-almost 4. Sadly she's a drug felon in her 30's now and can't/won't use guns. I still think it's good to train them early and train them well.

It was some sort of Old milsurp 8mm bolt action that had been shortened to carbine length. Details are a little fuzzier now than they were about 35/36 years ago. I loved it and could use the old iron sights to kill golf ball sized dirt clods out past the 100 yard mark. I actually shed a tear when he sold it and didn't give me 1st option of refusal.

4YO and an 8mm carbine? Does he let him shave with a straight razor and drive himself to school? He sounds like the Steve Irwin type of parent. Nothing like dangling a pre-schooler over a crocodile.

Actually it was a she. Tiff shot the AR like it was a Red Ryder BB gun, but Dad did prop the 8mm up on sandbags for her to take her 1st shot. After that she promptly walked back over to the AR, pointed and said "again please". (that was an again for the AR, not the 8mm)

Teaching your daughter how to be a good citizen paid off. I got emotional reading this, can't imagine how you two felt.

Here's a video of another well prepared, although she never shot a firearm before this, young girl with a .40 Glock. Her interview begins at 2:52:

Yes, and it made national headlines. It's odd that the OP's didn't.

I agree but maybe because there wasn't any shots fired?

Where is the OP anyways?

No shots fired= lack of national news coverage, I can buy that. But it should have shown up in local coverage.

Agree with you. If there was zero evidence of local coverage, I'd call this story a total fabrication. We all know how local news are. They can even milk blood out of a minor traffic accident.

Like I said earlier, this thread is 9 v 45 in disguise.

I want to agree with you and Whiskey but I think OP's location could be a factor too (if he's not posting from under a bridge with the other trolls). For example if this happened in my city (Boston) there's a very good chance it would never make any news. If it happened in the small town in Maine where I lived prior, it would be all over the news without a doubt.

Either way, I think anti-gun states bury a lot of stories like this.
