Well done on your part for teaching her this, and well done on her part for listening and utilizing what she learned.

I don't have any kids, but I could just as easily substitute my mother or sister to try to wrap my head around how you were feeling. I'm glad this story ended the way it did.

Wow, what a first post!

Glad everything turned out okay, and that your daughter was prepared for the situation.

All the training in the world means nothing if the proper action is not taken when called for.

She did great. Hope ya'll, as a family, can get away for a day or two and decompress.

Thank God in heaven, and let us keep those not as fortunate in these situations in our prayers.

Well done on all sides!

This should be submitted to the Illinois "leadership" while they discuss CCW for law-abiding residents!!!!!!!!!!

You should be very proud of your daughter!!!!!!!!

Please do this - keep an 'eye' on her.

My oldest daughter was robbed at gunpoint, where she used to work. (About 5-1/2 years ago. Just before Christmas.)

She was fine, for a while.
The sphincter muscle that robbed the Verizon store (she no longer works there, I don't care who knows the company name, now) stuck a semi-auto pistol into her mouth and racked the slide.

I got a call after the sphincter muscle left and the sheriff's deputies were doing their investigation. (I knew some of the deputies, and a good friend called me.)

My daughter wouldn't come out of the back room, until I got there.

Two months later, she has her Maryland Concealed Carry Permit. (In Maryland, you must PROVE "apprehended danger"! She did!!! The robbery was on video tape!!!)

Three months after the robbery, she started having problems sleeping. Then, problems eating.

One year of therapy followed.

Even though Verizon Wireless has a "No Weapons Policy" - Concealed means concealed.

Please, keep 'an eye' on your daughter. Watch for signs of stress.

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. My daughter is doing great. Went to dinner last night and she was in a very upbeat mood this morning. We are going to watch her very carefully that she does not have any issues going forward as another poster suggested, so thanks for that advice.

On another note, I have noticed that some have commented on it being my first post. I've been a member here since 2010 and have posted several times since joining. It shows my post from yesterday as my first, which it wasn't. Has anyone had this issue before?

That doesn't support the guns kill people mantra so therefore it must be false

Thank god and good job for teaching kiddo well. I am impressed at her ability to handle herself in such a way.

Regards, GMB

Glad it worked out and she is ok. Also glad she had the means to protect herself if it would have come to that.

I have two daughters myself, both in their 20s now. There is a place that daughters take in a dad's heart that no one else can claim. I can imagine your feelings when you were on the way home. Good job by her because of good parenting by you. Thank you for sharing this very sobering story. God bless you both.
