Finding ammo in strange places.

Obviously, lately many of us have had trouble finding ammo and especially 9mm has been very scarce. I have wanted to go to the range with my SIG P226 for a while now, but couldn't find any 9mm in my area (Central Florida). This Memorial Day weekend I went to visit my brother that lives in St. Augustine and he was telling me about this hole in the wall convenience store near him that sells ammo. Before heading home we check this place out and sure enough he had a bunch of 9mm especially Federal 147gr. TMJ. Mind you this is a little place that sells seafood, meat, fresh blue crabs, diapers, bait, etc. Well, we walked out with all the Federal 9mm he had plus some .38 and some .40. Just never thought I would find ammo in a convenience store of all places. I guess this is a sign of the times. At least now I can go to the range and have a little fun. Anybody else finding ammo in strange places?

Not so weird but sad, my cousin committed suicide a few months ago, when we were cleaning out his room his brother asked ini had a 9mm and gave me about 750 rounds, not the happiest way to score a stash but I wasn't about to turn it down....

Congrats on the score! FWIW, I would rather buy ammo from a place like that than Wally World any day!

Wow, sorry to hear about your cousin, that is definitely not the happiest way to score some 9mm.

No, not evil, just being smart. I have people asking me where they can get ammo alot any more. It makes me want to ak them why they didn't prepare any better than they did.

Why the Wal-Mart bashing? I was at one of the supercenters tonight and picked up two boxes of .22lr and noticed the shelves had .380ACP, .40S&W, and 9mm listed at the same prices posted before Sandy Hook. Wal-Mart has been more than decent in holding their ammo prices steady, unlike some places in my area. The only real complaint with Wal-Mart (if it can be said to be a complaint) is that their inventory sells out in about an hour or less. Well, why wouldn't it sell out if the store is open 24/7 and their ammo prices haven't gone up? This alone is making me into a loyal Wal-Mart customer.

I bought 16 boxes (800 rounds) of the Federal 147gr TMJ 9mm for $508.64, $29.99 a box.

I would much rather buy from a small LGS or a place like this as well, but sometimes you got no choice, but a place like Wally world or Gander.

Trust me I had no intention of dropping that much money on some 9mm, but to be honest I thought this place wouldn't have any like every other place I have been to, so when I seen it I knew I better buy as much as I could.
