When I was a criminal justice major in college, the professor one day went around the class and asked everyone why they wanted to be in law enforcement.

Some people said they wanted to help people, make a difference yaddy yadda.

When he got around to a big guy named Junior, Junior said, "I want to be a narc because I enjoy gaining people's trust and pulling the rug out from under them."

I knew that I was surrounded by sociopaths and that is why I am not a cop today.

Why do they dress security guards up in cop uniforms? Why do they insist on calling them officers?

They just give a bunch of wannabes a god complex that gets them into these situations.

That is the remark we usually get from people who wanted to be cops but could not. You may be an exception, but I have never seen an exception to that in real life.

she needs to know what if any authority she has/had. then she needs to know what to do when that authority is breached...... i dont think she really knew what her job was that day.

Actually I was gonna be a fed before I knew any better. Took one of those career tests and it said I should be in the FBI if you could believe it. Then I had two different experiences with local LEOs who let me know just how much the did not like the Feds, started to open my eyes.

Then the incident I posted about previously happened and I had enough.

I can't tell you what would or would not have happened in my career because speculation is pointless, but I don't see any reason I could not have succeeded as a LEO.

It appeared that there was a semi that had rolled down the hill across from there position. You can see it in the background behind G.I. Jane as she's screaming her head off.

As for the mall cop, she seriously needs to chill the **** out and she needs to lean how to communicate with people. If she continues with her hostile attitude I see a lot more confrontations in her future.

I've been to that mall near St. Clairsville Ohio many times. Fortunately I never ran afoul of that psycho security guard.

I don't know what the attraction of taking pics of that mall would be but to each his own. It isn't clear to me that they were technically on mall property- that is an access road that connects the Interstate highway with the mall and its environs.

If they were actually on mall property then the guard had the right to ask them to stop taking pictures and leave. Why malls seem to dislike having people take pictures of their property escapes me but most seem to have that policy.

Obviously if that were the case, and they refused to stop taking pictures, her recourse should have been to call the Belmont County sheriff's department.

Oops- guess they were taking pics of the wrecked truck:

Great training. I skipped around. When she started counting, I realized she went to My Mom's School of Quasi-Law Enforcement Training And Falafel Preparation.

If you look at the google map of this it appears that they were on what might be essentially a private road ringing the mall.

Did the security guard handle herself well? I'd say no. Did she have the authority to tell people to get out of there? She may well have.

Listen to the sheriff. Nobody called the cops for the accident? Really?

Ms. Mall Cop was definitively in the wrong, but if I was there, I think I would have tried to have stopped the fight after they settled down.

The conflict/fight is stupid. I am more concerned about how a mall can possibly have a policy against taking pictures on property. I have seen countless pictures and videos taken from inside malls and would never hesitate to take a picture or video at a mall.
