If you think that is "obviously not the case," I suggest you seek professional help as you are apparently seriously out of touch with reality.

If you don't want a same sex marriage, don't get one.

Agreed, on automobile production lines, when they mate (another word that has changed with time) a car's engine to it's body, they call it the "marriage".

The exact same applies to guns and abortion. HH

Just remember, when anyone says "It's not about the money." it's about the money.

Is it generally about money when straight people marry?

They don't find that out until the divorce starts happening in earnest.

Just one more State that's overly inhabited by extreme leftist liberals whom believe they have a right to impose their views onto others regardless of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Simply put, they obviously believe that it's okay to force through governmental legislation, which is intended to supersede a purely Biblical concept, doctrine, and tenet. Talk about unconstitutional!?!

Amazing gall from that State's legislature is all I have to say.

How is a couple...trying to do something they want to do themselves without involving you...forcing their views on you?

Its you trying to force your views on them.

There's nothing in the constitution or bill of rights about this.

Another example of the only reasoning against it being religiously motivated.

You may have missed the memo, but laws are supposed to be secular. Not putting one belief over another. Equal rights and all that j***.

You want to stop someone from going about their business which doesnt affect you and theyre forcing their views on you. Sure.

Let's examine two scenarios. You tell me which sounds more like "forcing views".

1. There are two boxes of candy bars on the counter, and I am one of twenty people in line to have a candy bar. True, having the candy bar will give me the benefits of a burst of energy and some calories for my body, but there are also some bad parts of it, like the fat and sugar, and also we all collectively lost money paying for those candy bars. Mostly I just want the candy for the same reason as those in front of me and behind me - it's yummy and it makes me happy. After watching the 17 people in front of me choose a Crunch bar, I reach for a Heath bar instead. You smack my hand away and say. "No candy for people that like Heath bars."

2. All 20 people in line, including me, get a candy bar. You stomp your feet in the corner because the fact that I got a candy bar was unconstitutional. I point out that the constitution doesn't say anything at all about candy bars, but says some very explicit things about equal protection under the law. Also, while it's true that most people prefer Crunch bars, about 2-5% of mammals in nature have preferred Heath bars for thousands of years, far predating religion and civilized society.

So which sounds more like "forcing views" to you? The second, right? HAH.

The founding fathers made it abundantly clear they don't want you using the govt to force your christian beliefs on others.

What DOES the bill of rights say about gays, and how is two gays getting married imposing their views on you?

It's amazing to me that when I joined GT in 2003 it was a largely conservative base. Judging from all of the "let it be" answers, it's like stepping into a large pile of ACLU.
Our forefathers would barf on their collective shoes if they saw how the Constitution has been manipulated to fit these immoral agendas.

I think they'd be happy that it's being used in such a way as to keep the thumpers from forcing their religion down our throats.

Ok, deep down... You really think so?
I don't think they could possibly imagine all of the abominations that "diversity" has wrought.

Not everybody considers them abominations. Usually it's just the religious crazies.

You don't seem to understand what a conservative really is. A true conservative wouldn't try to force others to live by his beliefs (and that's all they are--beliefs, not provable facts).

It's a big country out there and to assume you've got the answers for everyone else is laughable. A person doesn't have to be christian to be conservative. I'd also like to see your definition of "moral."
