5.56/223 ammo?

I'm buying an AR soon, and would like some reference on what a "reasonable" cost is for ammo.

Also, once your all set up for reloading, what's the cost of ammo?

I nabbed 3 20 round boxes of "independence" XM193(1?) ammo today, for 13 bucks a box. It's imported from Israel apparently.

The sun is starting to come through the clouds I guess, because the store I went to actually had a decent selection of ammo in stock... Prices? Not so much i think.

545 bucks for a box of 1000 rounds of federal xm193?!

200 rounds of remington pmc 223 for what, 145 dollars?

I checked around online, and everything everywhere is still out of stock but the prices seem more decent.

On a side note, I've been finding some decent deals lately.

Tulammo 10.97 a box of 50 at walmart.

Some other 9mm 13 bucks or so for a box of 50 at walmart. (brass case ammo)

A box of 25 rounds of 12g 00 buck for 22 dollars.

And aforementioned 5.56 ammo.

A far cry from this crap. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/AMM-464

49.59 for 50 rounds of aluminum blazer ammo?!

Yeah I tried gunbot.net.... It wasn't really that helpful.

According to gunbot.net 20 bucks is reasonable for 50 rounds of 9mm and that's a load.

Well, you decide what's reasonable for you.
gunbot.net just lists what's out there.
If you want it now, then pay what's available. Or, stand in front of Academy, or Wal-Mart, before they open. Or, be patient and sign up for email notifications on various sites. I just got 1000 rounds of Prvi Partizan PPU M193 from AIM, for $.40/round. Pretty good these days.

Under 50c/round is pretty good in the climate IMHO. I wait for cabelas herters to show up online and buy a few hundred shipped to the store. Ends up being 38 cents/round w tax.
