One Nine Eleven

I was in Bass Pro Saturday with my wife, looking for her own cleaning kit, when we overheard a gun counter 'salesman' say "... and over here we have a one nine eleven........"

We had to leave on the spot. I didn't know whether to laugh, or spit.

I bought her Hostas and candy instead.

A lot of old timers I know still just call it a .45 or a gubbmint .45. 1911? What do you mean? Ooooooh. A .45.

I long for a time when the foul heathens didn't chamber the Lord's cartridge in plastic guns. Life was simple then...

Never heard it called a one nine eleven.

Because back when it was invented, 911 was a long distance call. You had to dial 1 first.

OP, that's funny.
To be honest, I don't think my father has any idea that a .45 comes in anything other than a 1911.
Or, he's just living in denial.
