The only person who knows I am carrying is my girlfriend. As far as I am concerned, no one else needs nor should know.

Sounds like the same thing that was said by Starbuck's CEO in the beginning. Must mean McDs and Dunkin Donuts support open carry.

If you want to read into it however you like.

That was starbucks stance until the oc crowd started making field trips to starbucks for their daily photo op.

Starbucks has always been a liberal hangout, Starbucks just tried to appease their liberal base with this new policy. DD and McD do not have a liberal base and want to stay neutral. The smart thing a store should do.
I have always purchased DD or convenient store coffee because I just don't see paying $6 for a coffee.

Don't know where you been hiding but coffee is cheaper st Starbucks than Dunkin Donuts for the same size.. And much better and around here Starbucks is filled with young conservatives in Dunkin Donuts employs people that are probably here on a visa

That *is* exactly what Starbucks said, years ago, which is what kicked off this whole mess.

The OCers that felt the need to rub their ideals into the issue (READ OCing rifles and shotguns), are at fault here. If you or someone you know are one of these rifle/SG carrying idiots, kick you/them between the legs.

Those folks are to blame and they did a great job of screwing it up.

Do you always make up your own facts instead of reading the ones that actually happened? I suppose life might be more entertaining that way.

Starbucks had a neutral policy before, and frankly still does now--they haven't banned guns from their stores. I won't go to Peet's anymore since they announced their no-CCW policy several years ago, but all Starbucks has done is ask that you not carry rifles into their stores.

It should not be a big deal anywhere, it's your right as an American. Unfortunately that right has been getting trampled on for years by these crazy, better than you, anti-American, dictator politicians people elect.

The problem is the liberal media has people believing that only police officers are supposed to carry a firearm. They have most non-gun owners thinking that when you see someone with a gun, they are a "bad guy" and people call the police. That's what they watch on certain news outlets all day and night so that's what they believe.

Reading is fundamental. Where did I say they banned guns? it looks like you are making up your own facts here.

I will still carry every time I walk in that over priced coffee shop or that sloppy grease hole and they will never know. Now keep quiet and don't tell them

Maybe you should open your own coffee shop and let everyone carry long guns in in hand ..

I will also get my crystal ball out and predict that DD will soon change their policy after enough open carry A K 47 wing nuts start showing up for phot ops when soccer moms are stopping in for breakfast with the soccer team...

You didn't say they banned guns, and I did not imply that you said so. As you say, reading is fundamental.

So let's break down your statement:

There's a Starbucks on every corner across most of America. They're full of all kinds of people. Starbucks went "corporate" decades ago, and the hipsters moved on to indie coffee shops almost as long ago. Starbucks has not been a "liberal hangout" in a very long time.

Quote:
Starbucks just tried to appease their liberal base
By the same token, Starbucks does not have a liberal base. They're a global firm, with operations in 61 countries, and they really can't afford to have a "base" one way or another. Politics are too different across global markets.

Quote:
with this new policy.
Nor have they really adopted a "new policy." Howard Schultz published an open letter wherein he politely asked open carry advocates to hold their protests elsewhere. In that same letter, he said that Starbucks would not change their policy of following the relevant local laws at this time.

Quote:
DD and McD do not have a liberal base and want to stay neutral.
No, they want to stay neutral because (like Starbucks) their businesses are not about guns. If open carry advocates started having rallies in McDonald's locations with slung ARs, how long do you think it would take McDonald's to ask them to stop?

So, to recap: you made a bunch of statements that were factually incorrect, strung them together with incoherent analysis, and put that whole steaming pile out there on the internet. Well done sir.

It's exactly what the Starbucks CEO has been saying for quite a while.
The OC activists took that as an invitation to go to Starbucks and show off their enhanced battle rifles for the soccer moms, a big "eff you, you can't stop us!" directed at the antis. Kind of freaked out some people trying to have some coffee and wifi.

Here is the starbucks about 40 meters from me...

The Okie Corral

So, yes, they do happen to be global. And I wouldnt call the Frankfurt airport "liberal hangout"

DevilDog has to dead to rights on this one.

So, maybe we can test this theory out.

Lets have "speedos and coffee" mornings!!

I bet although wearing a speedo is legal...if we have lots of guys showing up every Saturday morning en masse for "speedo appreciation days", they might ask us to refrain from doing speedo appreciation days.
