Most versatile glock?

Hi there! I recently acquired a Glock 19 that I love. Unfortunately however, there isn't ANY 9mm ammo about. So, I am considering trading it it for another model. I thinking I need something that...

-Has a wide variety of caliber conversions. 9mm, 10mm, 357sig and etc. This way, I always have something to feed my Glock with!
-Size versatility. Can I use extended mags and a longer barrel to achieve the same performance of a full size in a compact? Carry a compact 9mm/40s&w everyday, or add a longer barrel with extended mags for 10mm to carry out in the wilderness maybe?
-Same slide? Same frame? I am looking to do some customizing to the gun. Primary reason I don't just buy multiple models for my needs.

I understand I may be asking a lot and that I know very little about the Glock models, but any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You could get a G29 and be able to use the same mags and just swap the barrels for 10mm, 40 and 357. Roughly the same size as the G19 but thicker.

But 99% of the population would not want to shoot a G29.

I totally agree with this thinking. Love my G29...and my G30.

Lots of folks in The 10 Ring forum would disagree.

Most law enforcement agencies moved to a G22 or G23 in 40 S&W caliber. I still believe that Glock 19 9mm can be the most versatile glock out there but I opted for a G30s for a couple of reasons. Fits Crossbreed holster for G19 so easy to conceal, 45 acp., and the ability to switch to a G21 high cap magazine. The fact that I cant chance calibers is okay with me since my wife uses a 1911 anyways..

I'm going to say a 23 is the most versatile. Barrel swap allows 9mm and .357sig. Buy a .22LR top end, that's 4 calibers in one gun. Small enough to carry concealed, large enough to perform as a full size duty gun. Probably one of the best weight to size to capacity ratios too.

I have been looking into the model 29/30. My only concern (not a major one) is the thickness of the slide. I just love how thin and sleek the 19 is

Can a glock chambered in 40s&w have the barrel swapped out to a 10mm and function safely in a 40s&w slide and frame? Perhaps the slide ejection port would be too small to eject the casing?

Could I use the same barrels/conversion barrels available for the glock 20 in the 29?

G21/30: .45ACP, .45 Super, .460 Rowland, .40 Super, 10mm, .400 Corbon, .40 S&W, 9x25 Dillon, .357 Sig, .22LR.

That's the reason I bought a G21 after careful consideration.

You can also run a G38 slide on it as well.

No. 10mm is put in .45 size guns because their OAL is the same. You can't place it in a 9/40 gun because the magazine will not have the length to fit the cartridge, let alone the action.

I commend you for the research you did and the model pistol selected.

I would only amend your list to note that G21/30 can also shoot .450 SMC ammo (45 Super cartridge with a small primer pocket) and the G21 can also shoot .50 GI with a full upper swap and custom mags.

For the OP (GG5789), take a look at the information at the link in my signature line below to read more details about the amazingly versatile G30 (and G21). The only noteworthy caliber missing is 9mm.

Keep your Glock 19, and try harder to find ammo. Panic buying is simmering down, and in a couple months ammo will be reasonably available.

On GT 98.4% of the Glock owners DID NOT vote for the G29 as their favorite Glock.

No, the barrel lugs for the G20 and G29 are different and the barrels can't be interchanged between these two pistols. Suppliers of aftermarket barrels for the Glock 10mm pistols (native caliber or conversion) typically sell barrels for the G20 and G29.
