grease in SD guns

after acquiring a Sig [my first] and doing some research on Sigs it seems many Sig owners use grease on the rails and some on the barrel. I have owned many autos over the years and never used grease. I know you have been around a lot of shooters and guns. whats your position on using grease on SD autos. my worry has always been the threat of holding extra dirt or drying grease. all of my autos are service weapons.

I like grease for long term storage, but for working guns, CLP has served me well over the decades.

best,
Mas
