any nagant revolver experts?

I have a 1939 tula, got the star with arrow thing stamped, right under that is a little square with a line in it stamped, trigger guard left side has a star with a 6 next to it, and in front of cylinder is what i assume is a serial number, XT864, right side is some funky symbols. Wondering if anyone knows about manufacturing runs, where they got shipped and where it may have seen service, etc.

It's a refurbed Tula. As to history, who knows?

I think those records are lost to time. A lot of those cool little stamps and thier meanings are unknown at this time maybe forever.

There are some that are DDR and MO marked, but even those are up for debate among collectors - especially the MO markings.

It is tough to trace and you will probably never know. If it is a refurb it generally saw some type of service to begin with. Even production numbers on the nagant revolvers is tough to pin point to what years and arsenal. After the war, russia took most of their used weapons and refurbed them and packed them away for the next war. That never came and now they are sold off as mil surps. Tula's were the most common Nagant arsenal except in 1942 and 1945. Something like fewer than 200/month were manufactured in 45 and I believe very few if any in 42. The Izhevsks arsenal runs were made from 42-45 and the 43 and 44 Izhevsks were the most common with over 100k per year those two years.

From what I recall on Mosin Nagant rifles they restarted the serial number every year. I don't know if they did that with the Nagant revolver though.

I have one dated 1932 - I always assumed it saw service with their internal security forces if at all. This was right when Stalin began the mass killings of the Ukrainians & Cossacks, among others.
