When a surreal event such as this manifests itself in an otherwise ordinary situation, the human minds takes a moment or two to process what their senses are telling them. It's just human nature, we aren't geared to accept something so out of place with what we were expecting. No need to attribute it to a lack of character on the part of those present present.

They are humans... yes, they can.

Of course it was. I used to do demo in the Marine Corps. That was a small amount of high explosives, not a gas main going.

Anyone claim it yet? This seems to be beyond the scope of the usual lone nutjob, aside from McVeigh. This seems like something that would be organized, and usually organizations like to get credit.

I was just listening to Hannity. Apparently the bombs were set to detonate when most people cross the finish line.

Agreed. When the ordinary suddenly turns into the insane, some folks just can't make rational connections on what they should do, and there is comfort in continuing to follow "business as usual" behaviors, rather like a horse that keeps running back into its stall after being led out of a burning barn.

Some reports now of a couple of possible devices found that have not exploded that they are dealing with.

I'm sure it took a while for everyone to figure out what was going on and redirect the runners. Besides, what else should they have done? Stop running and take a cab to their hotels/cars? Started searching for more bombs?

What are the odds of waiting on actual, factual information before turning it into a political, finger-pointing game?

I saw somewhere that families from Newtown were near the finish line, and that the race was ran in their honor. I forget where, so I cannot provide.

Best I can find is they held a moment of silence before the race and Mile mark 26 was in their honor. Maybe that's what people were confusing.

I don't need any confirmation it was intentional. And I am
not sure we can believe what we are told anyway, when
every tragedy is seen by this administration as an
opportunity. This has Al-Qaeda written all over it.
Their benchmark explosives attack is at least two bombs
set to detonate separately, in a pattern of anticipating
responses to the first explosion, and maximizing carnage
in the second. The third may have been to take out
some of the bomb squad...If any of these guys were in
Iraq/Afghanistan, that knowledge may have save some
DoD types. Yup, negotiating with terrorists, and
rehabilitating them sounds like a viable strategy.

May God be with those wounded, and with the families
of the dead.

Because contrary to how the media portrays us, our culture isn't nearly as violent as plenty of third world countries in the middle east and Africa. Not to mention with bombs in the way it was used today per capita.

Yea, yea I know, we had the WTC bombings, OK city bombings, etc. this was a different setup.
