That's how Jeff (23skidoo) went. All his family was there. Unfortunately I'd had to fly back that morning for my chemo, that really hurt. But he was surrounded by loving family, and died listening to his favorite song. I wish we could all be so lucky.

Well. Her liver is unhappy. Discontinuing this round of chemo. The doc was still encouraging, it's possible it was enough. One day at a time.

Chemo and happy livers are mutually exclusive.

I am late to this thread, my views are not aligned with typical AMA dogma.

In any hospital, there are doctors that disagree about care for cancer treatment. A radiation doctor, may not agree with a chemo doctor, and the surgeon, again, has a differing professional opinion.

If I pour the chemo therapy drug in your morning coffee, it may not hurt you, (may) but if I get caught, I am in prison for about 8 plus years. All chemo therapy drugs are poison derived. Some are worse than others.

Before your dear mother gets one more injection of these drugs, find a doctor that does not like using them, there are many, and ask him / her why?

Cancer books by famous people, famous doctors, warn there are other ways.

My advice, find other ways. PM me if you want help seeking proven methods of treatment, some as close as your local health food store.

shallnotbeinfringed, I absolutely appreciate that where you are coming from is heartfelt, and well meant, but my mom is a retired RN, and while we both believe in the merit of some complementary treatments, neither of us is comfortable with alternative treatments.

I woke up with a raging headache this morning, so I'm vegging a little this morning before heading back up for an overnight. I talked to dad (he took last night) and mom was resting. She's been sleeping a LOT, which I guess is a good thing.

Very sorry to read this Mrs. VR. I can only speak to dealing with losing a parent with a small lead time as it's coming up on three years since I had to take my mom off life support, with only 8 days elapsing since first going to the doctor.

As time goes by things get a little easier, but the pain will always be there and I find it best to just acknowledge it. I do try to think of happy memories and this helps quite a bit.

It's funny you mention Attman's; as one of last places we took her was for luch in the 'Kibbitz Room'.

Feel free to PM if I can be of any help. I'd be proud to buy you a corned beef sandwich and a knish at Attman's anytime.

Thank you. The Attmans are actually cousins on my grandmothers side. That and $20 gets me a pound if corned beef!

Today was...an emotional roller coaster.. Good news bad news good news worse news ambiguous news. Don't want to give private details but it was a rough morning for mom which translated to a bad day for me.

Talked to my primary re:anxiety today. Have a short term plan ( all I need, realistically). Took a nap this afternoon, woke up at 7:15 and thought it was am. Put me way out of sorts for the rest of the night.

Sorry to hear about the rollercoaster stuff. I'm sending out prayers for your mom every day! I hope you start getting good news, and only good news, soon.

I'd fuss at you about getting enough sleep, taking care of yourself, etc.... but, the truth be told, I would be a wreck and all over the place if I was in a similar situation with my mom. Just do your best, and take all opportunities to rest as they come up.

Big Hugs!!

Not sure how strong I am. I surrendered and saw my doc for a little short term better living through chemistry. I'm probably not spending another night over for a week due to schedule issues but ill still be driving back and forth daily, even if its only a couple hours a day.

Today has been sort of meh. Nothing worse but nothing better.

Today was not good for her physically but her labs are somewhat better, so I dunno what to think. I can't remember if I said this, but a nurse have me lessons a couple days ago on how to care for her Hickman cath at home, so that feels like a step in the right direction. I know she just wants to freaking be home already.

Omg! Omg! After a few more days of serious ups and downs, they just did rounds and said that as long as she has no fever overnight WE CAN GO HOME TOMORROW!!!!

We are no where near out of the woods and will be coming back frequently, BUT SLEEPING IN OUR OWN BEDS AND USING OUR OWN BATHROOMS!!!!
