Remember the times you've had and the love you shared and take peace in the fact that they are no longer suffering and are in a better place. Best wishes to you and all your family.

I'm awake ( for the moment) only because I went to bed somewhere between 7-8! Dad and I went over all the obit/ program stuff yesterday, had the social worker in for all the kids and spent hours looking through boxes for the right pics.

At about 5, just he and I went to buy my moms weekly lottery tickets for the last and just spent time at the grocery store, wandering aimlessly, but just the two of us, no phones ringing. It was lovely.

Went to see her before her T'hara and she looked so amazing! What a difference. The funeral home is so upset, they hung black bunting on the front doors , and renamed the chapel in her memory. it now bears our family name. so speechless.

I'm so sorry for you. Reading you posts brings back the feelings of losing my own mother twice, the second time for good. I will share my tears with you and your mom.

Bless you.

I haven't chimed in on this thread but have been following, and keeping your mom and family in my prayers Sharon. Please know that will continue in the days ahead. Lost my dad in '94 and my mom in '08, so while I won't say I know what you're feeling just know you are not alone. Mostly I pray for peace.

Thanks all. I think after Tuesday I'll close this thread. I want to share some of the amazing pics from the program later before i do that, though.

Oh my goodness. It was an amazing funeral 300+ people at the chapel, the funeral home handed out scratch tickets ( mom was an addict) and instead of a moment of silence we had a moment of scratch off!! At the cemetery, a former funeral director who is one of my parents honorary grand kids and flew in from Chicago, read a poem her husband wrote, and at a part that mentioned flying free, THEY FREAKING RELEASED DOVES!!! I've never seen anything like it. In a short lull before minyan tonight ( another brief service we do at home the next few days) and dad and I are pooped out in the living room sofa while I think everyone else (immediate family now) is watching football.
