My new to me, Sig P6

I had seen it at the local gun store over the last week, held it today, had to have it. Loved the well worn look of the gun, shows character. I'll be honest, I didn't know much about the P6 or 225. I now know why it shot 200 rounds of 115gr TMJ like butter, had 1 FTF with Speer Gold Dot 124+p out of 50 rounds and would not shoot Critical Duty 135gr. I guess the P6's made prior to 1989 were designed to handle 115gr, the feed ramp is narrow on mine. No problem using 115+p or 115+p+ JHP if I can find it

I will also say that I've always kind of doubted the whole made in Germany quality over the American made Sigs...well, I might stand corrected, looks like great craftmanship overall for this gun. Could just be me though, I'm no expert. The trigger didn't feel that heavy in DA, feels a lot like my 226 Navy. The SA was smooth, very nice. I will say this might be the most accurate gun I've shot out of the box, easy to shoot, great ergo's for me. This was my very first target, first time shooting from 7 yards, all three circles:

Congrats on the new toy. I had one just like it a while back. really neat old school guns.

I see that looks like a Sig Pro in your collection. How do you like it, compared to the metal framed guns? Thinking of getting one myself.

They are a great little gun. I regret not having picked one up.

Congratulations.

I really like my Sig Pro, my second one. Sold the first to fund my AR and purchased this one not so long ago, but in .357 Sig. A trigger very much like my 226, nice quality, well rounded gun for a good price, if you like Sigs of course.

Congrats!!!!
I've found that the Pachmayr Grips really change the way the P6/225 handle - especially if the orig plastic grips have wear or your hands are a little larger.

I'm going to send the barrel to custom creationz to get the barrel modified to accept all JHP weights.

I have had several of these and loved them. Fit my hand perfectly. Congrats on yours. If I could find another one in good condition and good price I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Still have a P225 by the way. Great guns.

Awesome For you guys with pre-1989 P6's, do you have any issues with 115gr JHP? I read many don't but anything larger, they do.

My 1979 P6 has fed 115 and 124 grain JHP gold dots fine.

God dots in 147 did not do so hot. Several FTF. They appeared to be to long.

I picked up my P6 many years ago and have since had all the springs replaced with P225 springs which improved the trigger pull significantly. Once tht was done I had it cerakoated as mine had more wear than your appears to. Once the finish was done I added the Pachmayer grips mentioned earlier which completed the gun for me. It was made in 1979 but is still very accurate and a blast to shoot.

Congrats on the new toy.

You can always buy a P225 barrel or take it to a smithy to have the feed ramp modified for better feeding of different JHP bullet profiles.

Congratulations.
Same im STILL kicking myself. Had a ton of them locally. Guy at counter offered to let me go in back and have my pick of the lot. even after all that and the price at the time..I ended up getting a .22LR pistol for me and the kid instead...went back later and they were all gone...my typical "luck".(or stupidity)

This last fall when I brought home that Dan Wesson 6" .357 magnum id seen for $225 the wife went semi off(even though I had the $$ for it and it was my own $$ not the house "fund".) What do you need that for you already have one dont you..I said yeah then explained about passing on the P6..and how I still regretted it..I said im not passing on a .357 Magnum in 90% condition at $225 and go around kicking myself for it for years..so here it is (she didnt really care just had to do the why did you get that you already have one typical "female thing")
