markerbeacon,

Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!!!!!!

The wifey and I purchased 1,500 rounds of Federal Champion 115 gr in 100 round value packs for $21.37 each at 3 Walmarts within a 20 mile radius today thanks to your posting about this app. It was a little work, but well worth it. We followed Walmart's guidelines, no more than 3 boxes per day per individual at each store. The app was right on. At one store we bought the last 3 boxes and in about 15 minutes the app showed that store was out of stock. FWIW, Federal Champions cycle just just fine in my Gen 3 19. I've shot about 300 of them in the past with zero issues. These are not for resale. IDPA, here I come.

Just a quick update. I was at a client's site and had been monitoring a Walmart close by for 100 round packs of Federal 9mm. The app reported limited supply all morning. When I got there they were out. Not an area that I think they sell a lot of ammo and I just got the feeling the employee would have said "just sold the last box" had that been the case. There may be some inventory adjustment issues with the app.

Mine worked great. Was able to find 45acp at three different walmarts. In stock meant lots of boxes. Limited supply meant two.

Even found some WWB 230gr JHP!!!

I've seen a box or two of .45 every time I was there... Quite frequently... Getting a sense that those aren't selling as fast. So are the 300 and 30-06.

I've gotten kinda serious about this app. Just a couple of notes

I've limited my monitoring to only those calibers that I really want and only those products that have a great price per round. So that would be .223, 9mm, and .40 in value packaging for me.

The app will keep a history of 4 Zipcodes. Each zipcode covers a radius of 20 miles. I strategically picked the ones where my daily travels might take me.

Not all store inventories are correct. Best to find this out while your stores that you are monitoring are truely out. Out of about 35 stores and 5 products that I am monitoring it looks like the inventory is incorrect on 3 listings. Not bad for 175 entries.

Some people just camp out at my most local Walmart for any ammo to be placed on the shelves at 8:30 PM. It was quite orderly when I witnessed this yesterday, but I'm not camping out for 1.5 hours to get .22 rimfire that I don't shoot. Only a few of those waiting had a clue what was arriving.

Sunday morning was a fantastic day for me to get my 15 boxes of ammo, so I think off times and stores that are not in areas with a lot of shooters are the way to go. Stores that are in more economically depressed or very affluent areas may be better too. Just fewer shooters in my opinion. And if you are going to spend this much effort, take a spouse or girlfriend with you to double your quantity.

It's the plain Walmart app for the iPhone only. I have to run the iPhone version on my iPad.

I've been trying this app. But, its "GPS" keeps me at a location where I am not. It's weird. It thinks I'm at my office, for some reason. But, I'm 30 miles away at home. So, that's not working for me, as it lists the stores close to my office instead of where I actually am.

Even though I've selected the Walmart close to my house as "my store," when it shows that store out of stock and then recommends the other stores... those stores are in increasing radius from my office location. And, only out to about 6 miles.

Hope that makes sense.

Interesting. What device do you have? iPhone 5, Android? I'm running an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.3 and have had no issues. I'm also monitoring 4 other Zipcodes, even one a 1,000 miles away in another state.

Android. All other apps have no issues with my location. It's not my phone. It's the app.

I don't see any option or feature in the app to monitor other zip codes.

Functionally, they sound the same to me. It's just that mine seems to think I'm somewhere I'm not.

If the same 2 stores reported out of stock yesterday, then I think they may have actually gotten the ammo in. Either it was sold, not placed on the shelves yet, or maybe "something" else.

The 5 stores that I visit most in my area are usually spot on with this app.
