Winchester Black Talon vs. T-Series! Comparing 1992 Bullet Tech to Today
This was a comparison that I wanted to do as soon as I got ballistics gel months ago. I finally got around to it, and the results are pretty interesting. One thing is for sure- no recovered bullet looks as nasty as a Black Talon or T-Series. Not even close.

In slow motion you can see the Ranger T's rocked the block of gel more than the Talons. The extra 40 fps makes a difference.
I wished they loaded the Ranger in 10mm.
Good video.

I wish they did, too. Where's all the love for the 10mm??? Mine is still loaded with the Black Talons I got for it in 1992.
I will test my 10mm Black Talons sometime, too, including on body armor just for kicks. It will probably vaporize the whole block of gelatin and maybe the entire garage, so I have to make sure my insurance will cover it first.

I'm a Ranger T guy
Although I really think Winchester T-Series, Federal HST and Speer GDHP
are the best of the best in self defense ammo.
My personal experience is that the Winchester Ranger Ts seem to have a smaller opening and feed more reliably for me than the other two.
All three are great.
But I prefer Winchester Ranger T-Series.

Well the black talons did a number on the black gangs in LA. Once the crips and bloods started using them(mainly because of the name)the number of survivors of gang gun fight dropped like a rock. It was a the press that became insensed that the number of death jumped so high....the cops were happy. Its also the press that started the mythical "Cop Killer Bullets" story, even used in many movies and TV. The myth started by one LA times reporter became a national story.
the black talons became my favoret ammo, carried it for years.

Wow, those recovered bullets are neat. You don't see as distinct a pattern in the lead of my recovered T-Series until you get out onto the talons.

Great video, I always liked the Black Talons.
Here is a federal HST 180 grain 40 cal (on left) out of a glock 27. I've had the same thought on 10mm and one of these days I'm going pull some of those bullets and load up for the 10 mm
(The right side is a 357 sig gold dot out of same gun)

That it good to see, I came across a decent deal on 50rd boxes of Ranger T RA45T 230g .45 a few years ago. I bought several boxes and have been hanging onto them. I would have no problem carrying them If I ever ran out of Gold Dot.
