"Given the line of contrary precedent in Illinois courts on this issue," the state appellate court wrote, "we see no reason to adopt the (federal) decision."

WTF??

Well, it is that damned "states rights" issue that northern states fought southern states to cancel.

Judges and prosecutors ignore laws everyday. This is a dog bites man story.

I'm not sure Illinois is really the place to cite as an example of standing up against a progressive federal government taking away individual rights. There are about 49 states more pro-freedom than them.

Can't get to article, but title isn't surprising. And our current Justice Dept. will not push it.

The police and states' attorneys are really pushing this stance that federal court opinions aren't binding. They'll push it all the way until the fed courts hold them in contempt for ignoring their ruling.....

I feel sorry for the people in Chicago. They're almost as bad off as the people in NY. The two capital crime cities in the states.

And you would be wrong. Go look at gun laws. There are states that are worse than us.

Every other thread when a state refuses to enforce federal legislation you cheer. Now suddenly its the opposite?

Hmm...

Actually, I was thinking there were states that were worse than Illinois in General, like New York and New Jersey, but that Illinois edged them out if you mainly looked at gun laws. I guess NJ may still be worse.

We won't know until June 9th if our efforts have paid off. Even then it is not over but the thing is that Rahm and Co. Have found out that there is more to Illinois than Chicago. We may get out-played in the General Assembly but it is only one battle in what promises to be a long war. People in New York, Colorado and New Jersey and elsewhere can sit on the sidelines and mock or cheer but we intend to get our way with or without other people's support.

You are, as so many do, confusing IL with Chicago. Believe it or not (you obviously don't), the two are NOT synonymous.

Just one example, this article is about Chicago and the Cook County States Attorney saying they're going to disregard rules they don't like so they CAN prosecute, but last year, this article came out:

http://quincyjournal.com/mclean-coun...345647957.html

So do me one of two favors: Clarify that all you're talking about is the jacked-up, ass-hatted thuggery of the Chicago politicians in their own territory, or don't talk about things that you don't know what you're talking about.

Actually some of Illinois' closest allies against Chicago gun-grabbers are Democrats. Most of the state has pretty traditional views on firearms. The northeast corner, East St. Louis, and Springfield are the few exceptions.

Unfortunately most of the population is in Crook County.

What would be the consequence of a contempt ruling?

You could broaden this to cover every State in the Union. Truthfully.

The exact same thing could be used to describe elections. Just look at a county-by-county run down on any presidential election and you'll see entire states full of red - then counties with metro-level-density populations being blue.

Chicago is a wasteland, all of these major metro areas are a wasteland of liberty. They ARE what the future holds for the rest of the country if something isn't done to stop it. Truly. As time goes on - population densities will spread - and so will the liberal mindset.

Why do we even call them liberals? They put shame to the term.

Nope we were 3rd before NY started their crap, so we're 4th for now.

And so many GOP members stand for. I expect to see a lot of GOP support for this.

WTF??
I agree with them. They should govern how they see fit. Fed forcing gun laws on the states is big government.

If they can do this, then why can't we just ignore Obamacare.

You should read more, my ill informed friend.

This is a judicial ruling they are ignoring, not a law.
