Didn't read article. (computer too slow)
The day I can buy a true "assult weapon" I will not mind having to do a background check.
A true assult weapon has burst and full auto (as well as semi auto) It should also have a proper supressor. Multiple uppers from SBR to 24"
Likely to need a mount to carry a shotgun, or gernade launcher. (might as well wish for everything) Ok honestly I wouldn't buy a gernade launcher even if legal, could get stuff.
Supresor? Yep I would buy a couple of them. (ok strongly consider) Full auto? Maybe in a .22lr. And a MP-5SD, AR.......

Since you couldn't read the article, the editor of that article wants background checks for everybody. Surprise surprise.

It occurs to me that the first American Revolution was won by people who did not have to pass a background check to acquire their guns...

And the folks in charge are hoping that by instituting UBC, they can avoid the second American revolution.

I seem to recall hearing that the revolution started in part because of a massive gun collection attempt. Some dudes in red wanted to take all guns, powder, bullets from storage site. Kinda like government is trying to take firearms, mags away......
