Just switched from M&P

Well, I was an avid M&P fan and had a 9c for daily carry and also had a full size 9. I was also shooting/carrying my 4" Kimber 1911. After my Kimber stove piped during my league shoot I was venting to the hosting range/shop and they put a Glock 19 in my hands and said I should look at that if I wanted reliability (despite my original shopping for a Sig P938. I owned a G19 about 6 years ago and got rid of it. Well after playing with the trigger on the G19 I was sold. I bought one and since love it. The ergonomics on the M&P I feel are superior, but the shootability, and trigger on the Glock really won me over. Its such a simple gun to shoot, take town, etc. Within a week I sold my 9c and tonight just bought a G26. Now I have the wonderful pair - G19 and G26. I am excited to train and shoot my league predominantly with my G19 (and also carry it) and have the G26 for summer carry/backup. I'm new here, and thought I'd introduce myself with a bit of news from a recent convert!

I switch over to Glocks in 08 with a 23 then a 27. I just bought a 30sf. Glocks have kind of grown on me and you can't beat their reliability. welcome to the Dark Side.

Well, congrats. You're going the opposite of most, but if that makes ya happy, have at.

Whatever you're comfortable with and shot well, roll with it.

Welcome to the Dark Side. I love Glocks for the same reason super reliable and super simple. The 1911 while a great gun just does not have the kind of reliability for me to have on my side every day. I know my G23 will fire no matter what and it gives me great piece of mind. I used to have and carry a Kel Tec P11 (bought new) good little gun and performed great on the range with FMJ ammo but put any type of defense hollow point in it and it did not like to chamber the first round. You really had to be hard on the slide to get it to chamber, forget about reloading or loading by releasing the slide. Once the first round was loaded in ran fine. This issue gave me nightmares about not being able to load my gun in a life and death situation. Great range gun, small and easy to conceal but not reliable enough for me to EDC. Sadly it was stolen but ever since then I told myself that my next gun would be a Glock and I got a LE trade in G23 for a song.

Only thing is the trigger safety mechanism (dont know the name) on the G26 from new extends far too much (its not right). and is being replaced by glock (sending it to my local store to have a Glock Armorer put it in). Its an annoyance and frustrating that its on a new gun, but I shot it today and shot it better than the G19!

Good move! I have put a lot of rounds through both platforms (a TON more rounds through Glocks). For me, I find that the square blocky Glock grip isn't as "comfortable" as the shaped grips of the M&P. But when it comes to shooting them, the Glock shape offers better pointability and surface area for forming a vicelike grip with both hands. See this video by Mike Seeklander on grip:
