Picked up 1,000 rounds of .40 for .46 per round this week. That's the cheapest I've been able to find it so I jumped on it. Hours later they were sold out. I see it trickling in right now.

The local BPS has 32 S&W and 17 caliber rounds in great supply. The stuff we actually use? Not so much.

Ammo comes and goes, does not look like it is getting any better yet. Proposed legislation on gun powder will make things even tighter.

How about a 9mm 100rd value pack for $122.95
http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/winc...0-p-75537.html

The above tells me things are NOT loosening up.

I don't know how you can make such a huge conclusion based on one product at one retailer.

CTD wants $1,500 for 1,000 rounds of XM855. But guess what? I paid about $0.25 per round less than that for MK262 recently.

Using one outlier as as your data point just doesn't do much for you

No, I paid $252 shipped for 200 rounds of mk262.

If you know of a better price, anywhere, for mk262, please, let me know. Those have always been expensive, long before the panic, even.

Here is some reading:

The last 1,000 round quantity of 5.56 I bought was a 1,000 round case of PMC XTAC XP193 last week. I paid $445 shipped for the 1k.

I paid a little more than that recently for IMI M193 from Wideners though. I'm sorta regretting that one. $1,400 shipped for 2,400 rounds of the IMI, which is $0.585 per round.

The cheapest I've paid recently was a couple weeks ago when I got 500 rounds of Wolf .223 for $165 shipped.

Sad days.

But I didn't pay $1,250 for 1,000. There is a difference. A difference of about $1,000.

If you want to make statements/judgement calls about it, please answer these questions:

1) Are you familiar with mk262?

2) Did you read any of the links I posted above?

3) Are you aware of how much mk262 cost before the panic?

4) Are you aware that 5.56 and .223 are two different cartridges, and I clearly posted that I bought 5.56, thus when you make a statement about people paying that much "for .223" you are factually incorrect, aka wrong?

5) Can you please find an available source of mk262 for less than what I paid?

Thank you in advance.

There are a lot of substitutes for WWB, are there not? Lots of manufacturers of 9mm FMJ out there.

I have met and seen many new shooters who are buying ammo, if they can find it. I also know several who only have 22 LR firearms and they are very secretive about ammo they get. Also, longtime shooters are stocking up big. It is a matter of how much one can afford to jump on opportunities.

Some quantities I have seen for sale are too large and expensive for me. A couple hundred dollars is fine but a couple thousand is too much right now.

Carry ammo seems tougher to find. I am more flexible on what I will accept. Recently, I stocked some more on 44 Magnum and 30 Carbine. The Local Cabelas has some Speer Gold Dot defense ammo in 30 Carbine, and it has sat for weeks.

I find if I think about an ammo or magazine purchase too long, it will be sold out. People are buying and product is showing up. It just sells out right away.

Just be flexible and adapt to what is available.

ammo

Some stores are starting to have 9mm and .223 on the shelves in my town. No rimfire to be seen except for those 22 shotshells.

I think limits are starting to help. I think it will be fall before things really improve.

I was looking at buying a 22 wmr rifle but it can wait until ammo is regularly available.

My golf clubs and fishing rods will get some use this summer.
