I still see this over by the end of the year. Yeah, likely not probably by the of the summer, but a fair possibility. So, I'm going with December 25, 2013 at 11:59 PM to put in my guess.

I'm starting to see 9mm, .40, .45, and .22 LR again around here!

Maybe the tides are starting to turn!

Finding adequate supplies of .40 S&W and 10mm online and prices seem to be falling.

I saw a box of blazer alluminum 10mm at Academy yesterday. One box, but that's more than you would expect for a saturday night. However, tonight was the mother load. The walmart truck landed at about 6:00 PM, and by the time I got there at 10:00 there was still a tone of ammo left. Me and the wife grabbed one box of Remington 223, 2 boxes of wwb .45 100 count, 2 boxes of Federal 38 special 50 count, 1 box of 38 special Remington 50 count, and 1 box of 357 magnum Remington 50 count. When I left, there was a ton of 40 in both 50 and 100 count. That's a ton for a Sunday at that.

My brother said he was buying some kind of 22LR in 225 count for $9.96. Not sure what that was. Also, there was a ton of 223 Tulammo that I didn't even touch. I'm gonna shoot a ton tomorrow!

The shelves at my LGS are stocked again with most of the common hand gun calibers but cheap target ammo is priced at damn near $1 per round, not happy about that and certainly not buying there either.

Brief surge of 9 mm, now it's all gone again. Ah well, I have stock.

Absolutely nothing local in 223/5.56.

I have been out of the gun hobby for a few years and just got back in. Was there ever a time you could just walk into walmart and expect say 45 ACP to be on the shelf?

It's getting close. Everyone is still buying and not shooting. I'm guilty of it myself. I still shoot, but I don't go through nearly as many as I buy. Ammo at wal-mart is lasting overnight these days. The 45 from last night was still there this morning. It will be gone by today, though.

It will be back when either the ammo lasts longer than overnight or walmart starts getting a restock every day. As for academy, etc., I'm not sure. However, I was in academy Saturday, and they had far more rifle ammo than I've seen in a while. No handgun ammo, though.

Its not a question of finding it. The links below show .45 ACP in stock at the time I'm posting this. No guarantees.

The question is do you want to pay .50-$1.00 every time you pull the trigger.

http://www.luckygunner.com/handgun/4...price&dir=desc

http://www.natchezss.com/ammo.cfm?co...ock=0&orderBy=

And honestly, be glad. 9 mm is harder to find. It can be found...at .50-.60 a trigger pull.

I don't know the reason but availability and prices are starting to come around but don't fool yourself. If things got back to "normal" tomorrow expect a 20-30% increase in pre Sandy Hook pricing.

If demand returns to pre sandy hook levels, and manufacturing costs are the same, the price will return to what it was.

The question is, if/when will the demand fall? I suspect we will see a shortage for a good while.

You r the only one I am aware of with shortcomings warp, common sense being one. Here it is, the benchmark price. Lets see where we are this time next year shall we. As u like, in stock, brass case, brand name
This is the final answer

$329.99 for 1k rounds.

10% under that is $297/1k rounds.

So that is what I will have to show, in stock and immediately available (online, where everybody can see it and buy it) later this year in order to win the bet.

Now, the waiting game.

Edit: Well, actually that is out of stock now...but I will be nice and count it as the starting point since it was in stock for more than a few minutes at a couple of days ago.

Even if demand and manufacturing return to pre-Sandy Hook levels, the price won't, due to the continuing debauching of the currency on the part of the Federal Reserve. When the value of the money decreases the price for everything increases.

On topic: I still have yet to see .308 or 9mmx19mm ball in stores. I guess I don't quite get up early enough.

We need a date. Since I said by 2014, we'll call it 1-14-14, just because. That is a delivered price, no sales tax as per the add.

That is also the issue if you search enough you can find it but its like 70-1.00 per shot thats alot of money. I actually found a guy on armlist who is going to unload a bunch of ammo to me at walmart prices i was shocked. He is selling me 700 rounds of winchester white box for 325.

I'll take as much loaded at 7.62 NATO pressure levels as I can get, maybe a little hotter, bullets in the 150-168 grain range.

Yeah, haven't seen any in months.
