I have had more squibs and other malfunctions with factory ammo than I have had with my own loads. I prefer to use my own loads.

I wouldn't have a real problem carrying my handloads, but until Federal starts selling HST bullets or Hornady starts selling their Critical Duty bullets, then I'm just gonna stick with factory ammo.

Hornady Critical Duty 135's or Gold Dots 124's off duty. On duty have to carry Rem GS 124 bonded, not my favorite. TXPO

Zombie Max is the same as Critical Defense, not Critical Duty.
Critical Defense is a fairly anemic load compared to other rounds mentioned in this thread. Critical Duty looks much better...

Always gold dot for 9 or 40. 124 +p, and 180gr for 40.
I'll probably use federal hst for my 45.

Hornady Critical Defense / Critical Duty for the magazine in the firearm+the one in the chamber.
Speer Gold Dot for the spare magazines.

I carry the 230 grain Speer Gold Dot in my G21...I can't find anything "better". I do have a 50 round box of the 230 grain Winchester Ranger T, but for some reason, I stick with the Gold Dot.

In my .45 I just use WWB hollow-point. I don't feel I need anything special with 230gr .45 ACP. I have Hydra Shok (sp?) in 9mm. I have heard they are old tech, but I don't worry a lot about that, I think they have been proven effective.
Like you I did have to pick up some Zombie max for the novelty of it, and I would use them if I hadn't read Massad Ayoob's book on concealed carry. I don't want to have to explain why I was carrying Zombie killer bullets for self defense. Any way you look at it some attorney is going to make you look foolish if you ever have to defend your life with them. Just wouldn't want to take the chance.

I am surprised more of you aren't carrying Underwood or Double Tap ammo. I have shot both in .45acp and 10mm and they are very reliable rounds, and hot too.

Ok I picked up 2 boxes of Hornday Critical Duty 175 gr .40 SW to replace my Golden Sabers for EDC. After seeing and hearing so much about them I decided to convert.
My EBC ammos of choice
For .40 SW Golden Saber or Critical Duty/Defence/Zombie Max
For 9mm Speer Gold Dot JHP 124 gr or Federal Hydra Shok 142 gr
