Looking for a sporty sedan

So I've been looking at getting a second car lately. While I love my Camaro and plan on keeping it as long as possible, it's not terribly practical. To that end, I've been looking at sedans. But I'm still wanting something sporty and fun to drive. So far I've tried and liked a Kia Optima, Mitsubishi Lancer GT and a Mazda 6. The 6 is leading at the moment, being a good balance between better equipped than the Lancer and sportier than the Kia, but lacking in the reverse. Are there any other GT endorsed sport sedans I should look at? Please keep it pretty reasonable. Yes the Aston Martin Rapide is awesome, but there's no way in hell I can afford it.

How much is reasonable? I love my A6. It is fast, sporty, comfy, and loaded with tech toys. You can find a 2011 model in the mid 30's to mid 40's.

Good luck finding one, there were only 1829 sold during its very limited run. The GT is much easier to find, and still 361hp.

I just bought an 02 Buick Park Ave Ultra turbo almost mint out the door for a shade over six grand cash. I'm feeling it's going to be a keeper. Some of our friends are getting over 30 mpg on theirs.

Talk about spit and git. Haven't had a car like that since we bought a new Nissan Maxima Sport back in 87. That car did 135 easy with plenty of giddyup left. Never challenged it's ability after that!!!

Check out the Nissan Altima. I have had mine for 5 years with not a hint of trouble. The 3.5 will definitely push you back in your seat. It's a Infinity G35 knock-off if you ask me, but is 20,000 less.

Preferably mid 20s but I can do up to low 30s.

ETA: a manual transmission would be nice, too.

We had...

up until it got totalled in december, an 09 maxima SE. That is an amazing car for as large as it is. Hauls ass, handles great, and in 90k miles not even one issue with anything failing on it. We opted out of a car payment for the replacement of that car, so we bought something we could pay cash for with the settlement money, but if I had my choice, I would have bought another one.

For that much, you can have a nicely loaded Maxima. They are fun to drive and fairly economical.
I own an 05 and 2012 and both are awesome cars. The 05 is holding up better than I though it would even after 110k miles.

Acouple of cars come to mind

BMW 328i

Look here and select which model you're looking for:
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...delsearch.aspx

On that site, they had a 2010 328i with the sport package/manual tranny--and CPO 6 year warranty from in service date--for $28K.
Having driven a an 08 328i for 5 years, I can say it is one sweet driving car; not one problem in over 50K.
I really like this car--terrific high speed tourer.

On the new side:
Ford Focus ST--6 spd
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-drive-review

Or:
Civic STi--4 door
VW GTI
Mazda 3 Speed

Your old man car is supercharged, not turbo. Just because it's quick in a straight line, that doesn't make it 'sporty'

I like my 07 Lincoln MKZ. The newer ones are a lot sleeker. It's fast and has AWD with a great engine. Before I bought it I was in the market for an Infiniti G35 or Audi A6. The Infinity has a well ranked engine. I'd rather get something a few years older that has low miles and is a nicer car. I bought the MKZ for $15K last summer and it looked showroom clean with no mechanical issues. It's loaded with every option except the 650 watt stereo upgrade.

157hp and brick like aerodynamics are not getting you anywhere near 135 ;et alone "easy and with plenty of giddyup left"

That is about a 115mph car and it will take quite a while to even hit that.

Take a 350hp car with modern aerodynamics takes a lot of space to get to 135mph. Driving 135 is fast on a highway.
