I stopped giving a crap about door dings a long time ago (my truck is a 2007) and if I am close and you are a dick that dings my door, oh well. I chock it up to the risk of driving my car daily and move on. Maybe that will change when I buy something new, but for now it is what it is. And by the way, I don't care how small the spot is, there is no reason for a Malibu to park like that......EVER!

Too much common sense for this thread.
I agree with you, but I do have different protocals for vehicles that display Obama stickers.

I could be wrong but it seems to me most people don't go around with different color chalks looking for someplace to mark. I bet the guy parked his car there, marked the spot and took the pic as a joke.

This thread is making me die of laugh.
That, and my Yukon is an a-hole magnet. And I park well away from people, partly because I like my car and partly because exercise is good (even in negative temps and wind and snow).
Oddly enough, no one crowds my Ram. Probably because it looks like I could drive over most passenger cars if I wanted...and it's a clapped-out hoopty, so I just might do so if you make me mad enough.

I think this sums up a lot of parking issues.

Okay, I didn't read all the posts so I don't know if this has been mentioned but the real reason for those "Compact" spaces is that the city will require that they have "X" number of parking spaces for "X" number of retail or office square footage and they can make 100 spaces into 160 spaces by making them smaller.
The less room they need for the parking is more room for offices or stores.

His assumption that the lot will not fill up later is both arrogant and rude. HH

Well the best they could do with a 100 space lot would be to make it into a "compact car only" lot for 105-110 cars. 160? No way.

Nah, like I said, literally every single time I have parked in this garage (average twice a week for going on two years now) this car is there, taking up two compact car spots right next to the elevator. I see it because I always just go straight to the top and park as far away from everyone as I can.

Easy enough to do that in the far corner of the lot by parking with the driver's side wheels very close to the curb--gives you a lot of space on the passenger side, and doesn't take up two spots.

You know, the kind of car you purposely park far away and alone to keep it from being dinged up but somebody will always park right next to you even though there are many open spaces around you?
It's like the car has a huge magnet in it that pulls cars next to it.
Bought the wife a nice BMW 335d and parked it far away and alone in the local Safeway parking lot only to return and find a ratty white neon parked next to it AND a nice white door scuff in my Black paint.
MF owner of the Neon told me "It's your fault for owning a BMW".
Real nice guy.

Yep. I know what your are talking about. Not driving a BMW anymore but still in the magnetic car world.

You got it.
It is amazing how much tighter parking is in Germany and yet people manage to park and exit their vehicles without damaging other vehicles.
The people in DE seem to have more respect for others and social decency towards others than Americans.

Bates...
Give that lady a email...then go park in that garage...it will at least make you happy about parking one time in your life.

I saw nothing rude or a-hole about 223's comment. Maybe his post was a little too stressful for you after your traumatic parking incident.

That's what I try to do when possible.

Hey 223, better watch your "bold moves" on GlockTalk. You might disturb the high drama of an internet forum.

Personally, I never understood driving around the parking lot for 5 minutes to avoid 30 seconds of walking. I also agree that the compact stops should be the further parking spots, anyway, since someone with a compact car won't be loading it up with lots of stuff. If there are other spots available, who cares?
If those parking improperly are really jerks, they're probably already being punished for their attitudes in other ways. No need to get yourself into a bad situation just to teach these people a lesson, even if you feel it's justified. Besides, if they haven't learned to play nice with others yet, do you really think you'll be the one to get that message through?

I used to be able to punish poor parkers a lot more when I had my Buick. I drive a car that dents too easily now.
It's fun when somebody parks way over the line to pull up 2 inches beside them and then get out the passenger side.

It is called private property.
I am sure moms with mini-vans full of screaming kids that they have to somehow corral into the store that caters to her would love parking right in entrance to your driveway to get under your skin.
Do us a favor. Grow up or park alongside the public sidewalk.

I park in the compact cars only spot in my ramp all the time. I make sure I'm don't stick out at all. Door wise, they're larger than the other spots. No damage when in a compact spot. Twice in a regular spot.

Perhaps if she'd have taught her kids to not be screaming little turds, she would be able to walk into the store like everyone else.
Sorry, I'm not giving you preferential treatment because you feel entitled.
