I don't care if they have or do not have the ability to fuel a nuclear strike. What i care about is our reaction. If I was in charge at first mention of this they would be in a world of hurt (literally).

Sure it was, just not in the conventional way you think. But stratagey and tactics were involved.

It most definitely was a war and it most definitely was not "cold".

Then I, for one, am very very grateful that you're not in charge.

The use of force to defend your house from an intruder is one thing. But to be so easily willing - it seems even eager - to send 18, 19, 20 year old kids into war is a disturbing prospect to me. Those men and women volunteer to serve at the command of the President. The very least that President owes them in return is a calm, rational decision on when to cash in that marker they've given.

Could, and how exactly would we KNOW who did it? Most of our data would be gone/wiped and we would be blind for quite awhile, IMO.

I vote on the former.

9/11, in my opinon, is the perfect example of complacency. The UN has warned these guys several times (that we know of) to stop their nuclear testing and they choose to continue - i am glad that neither ONE of us are in charge, it takes a combination of persons, like the United Nations, to come together and make these decisions, of which I am sure there are persons that have the opinion of yours and some of mine; it takes more than one to make such a decison that impacts many nations. We are on the same side war cry, just of different views. Your point is noted a valued, thank you.

If we were to strike NK tomorrow with nukes, would China respond?

Sphincters would clench tightly for a few days and then after PR manuevers on both sides, tensions would ease up and it would be back to business as usual.

In addition to this, there were also a few instances in some of these third world crap holes where American and Russian pilots went against each other, just in planes flagged for the crap hole countries (Russians in the proxy's planes and our guys in American planes).

Km Jong Un wants someone to invade.

His immediate response would be to sue for a peace deal that would leave him in power. And the invading nation(s) would no be responsible for tens of millions of refugees.

Before NK didn't have the means to deliver on their threats, now NK can deliver. Time to stop the eye rolling at NK and take the threat seriously now.
No, they cant deliver. They cant weaponize a missile.

And while i dont think the little worm is a rocket scientist, he has know any serious attack on us theyll cease to exist in less than 15 mins. We actually have SLBMs that work.

Same thing said about the Soviet Union, but they beat us into space, they got their atomic bombs and hydrogen bombs way ahead of what we thought they would. They may have had a lot of help from countries that would like to see us fall, ever thought of that? They do have somethings that orbit right over our houses every few hours, hmmm, I hope it is junk.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the new Kim, (Illin? Unga Unga?) attacked DC only to kill enough Dem's to flip the government back to republican control

Our problem has never been North Korea, we had them beat, it's the Chinese who turned that war. And still to this day, its a game for them. Between all the cheap imports and lost jobs, I sometimes think people forget who our real enemy over there is.

Why does it have to be a missile? How about a plane, cargo container, fishing boat the possibilites are endless. It isn't like they will have many nukes to deliver.

Send a message via Yahoo to Mr981
Recent history indicates that whenever NK wants to ratchet things up a bit, they wait past the current incident a bit and then bring it on suddenly:
http://news.yahoo.com/history-shows-...112646404.html

The 2010 incident was particularly nasty, with SK losing a ship and that SK island was shelled killing people there.

Now, you have 2 new leaders since that incident:
the North has a new, untested son of a former leader--seemingly being directed by his military.
The South has it's first female president--just elected--of the conservative party. She replaces a president that was viewed as weak for not being more forceful with the NK's in 2010.

So, new leaders on both sides, with lots of bad blood between them that only goes back a couple of years.
One miscalculation--on either side--and that border could get real hot, fast.

It would be a shame if we had to kill a bunch of North Koreans. Twice.
