Lights
So I sold off my optics for now untill I can figure out what road I wanna travel down. Gonna take this time to get super comfy with Irons... something I should have done along time ago.
Need a light. Budget 200 $..have a g2 with upgraded led but no mount. Should I just buy a mount ? Possibly a mini scout? Fenix? Just lookin for opinions.
Thanks

Nothing wrong with that light and a mount. What do you plan on using it for?

I've had the Elzetta mount on my rifle and love it.
I just upgraded my light from the Surefire 6PX LED (200 lumens) to the Surefire Fury LED (500 lumens) and wow, what a difference!

I wear a Sure Fire Fury on my Duty belt. I am thinking of buying another one and mounting it on my rifle. I am nothing short of amazed at how bright this light is, it is much much brighter than the old 6PLed it replaced on the belt.

I started with a TLR-1S and really liked it. Problem was the switch kept getting hit in my bag. Not a good thing when you pull it out of the trunk and your light is dead. I picked up a Haley edition WML light and absolutely love it. For me it's the perfect light. For $109 the price is right as well.

Either x300 at 12 o clock, no mount needed. Or IWC mount for the g2. IWC makes awesome mounts.

IWC does make nice mounts. I have an SMC for my Surefire/VTAC L4 (basically an M600 Scout w/o the tape switch) that mounts beautifully to an MOE handguard. If you get a less expensive light you can do this on a budget, they have three different ring sizes that will fit the body/diameter of pretty much any CR123 or 18650 light.
I'm sure their other mounts are great too. http://www.impactweaponscomponents.c...ht-mount-1-00/
And I just recently jumped on board the 12 o'clock light mount bandwagon with my new X300U-A on another rifle. Very nice so far.

While the Fury is superior (and I wish I'd had one back a few years ago) the G2 LED is no pushover either.
I used to clear buildings with a standard 6P mounted, then a G2 and G3. I still use the G3 for indoor work and a 600C for exteriors. If I go back fulltime as a cop, I'll be upgrading to a couple Furys after having seen them in action on the street.
The VTAC is good if you don't need QD. I use a LaRue LT606 because I do need QD.

I'll second the Haley WML. For the price it's really hard to beat and it's light weight.

I'll Third it. This is a good light. LA Police Supply has them for $99 right now.
They also have a 500 Lumen version on sale for $169 iirc.

The WML's a good light; here's my review of it.

The Elzetta is a great mount too and would work with your c grip if you offset it from the top rail

Huh? Where have you seen a WML with 500 lumen output?

Tape switches can be useful, but they have to be set up correctly. On the 300, I think the click cap is a little more useful. The tape is a lot more useful with the 600 -especially with shorter barrels and/or rails, as it can buy you more space.

i see what your saying. A buddy of mine keeps throwing the x300 in my face at 12 o'clock lol. Ive never used the surefire tail cap on the x300 he said you just literally use it like a push button vs the tilting on the TLR1

Pretty sure the X300 tilts the same as the Streamlight.
Also, if you want a Scout, you might want to hold off for a bit. Surefire just announced a 200 lumen EB1 Backup (Single battery), so I figure we will probably see a single-battery, 200 lumen scout light before long.

They do both have the rocker. But the x300 has the option of pressing in on the switch to activate momentary so you have 2 ways of activating the light. Im gonna play around with the Tlr1 at 12 o clock today move my MBUS back a bit and then zip tie my g2 in a offset position and see which i like more..

I put my furry in a viking mount (was like $25 or less ) and used it for a carbine class night shoot and it lit up the range at 25 yards. Id say get the mount for now and try it out then decide on what higher end alternative you might want x300 etc if your not liking it..
