Thanks for the heads-up; I just checked ticket prices and they're relatively inexpensive at all three venues. I'm still trying to square it with wifey for what I spent on a Indy 500 package for the upcoming race.

I am a long time circle track racer and an old redneck but I love road courses. I wish NASCAR went to at least one more and should go to two for 4 total. I also hate that they go to so many cookie cutter race tracks.

Depending on how far you have to travel, etc, if it help sell it to the Mrs, the Nationwide series also runs at Road America in Wisconsion:

The Okie Corral

and at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course this year:

The Okie Corral

Since they're not tied to Cup events, the tickets may be a little less for you.

Napcar gets boring, I like the last 30 laps.
Jimmie Johnson will go down as the greatest ever. 5 Championships in a row wont be done again. The Talent is too deep, I agree that Petty wouldn't have 200 wins in todays game, it's like Cy Young winning 525 Games, was that including sandlot and sunday BBQ games..

Thanks again. I've been to Indycar races at Mid-Ohio, but I've never been to Road America. I just bought tickets, garage passes and parking for the June 20-22 Nationwide event for a total less than a meal at Charlie Trotter's used to cost.

If she's good enough of a driver to win the pole she's good enough to win a race and I think she will eventually. She beat a bunch of good drivers. I don't follow NASCAR and I am not really a fan of hers but I watched just to see how she did. I thought she got owned at the end but so did a bunch of other drivers.

And what I like about Nascar is they run all types of venues. Sure I like some tracks better then others-I really enjoy Watkins Glen and Sonoma-Bristol, Martinsville, Phoenix-

I am a native born hoosier. I still mildy enjoy open wheel, but sadly the best US drivers no longer compete there. I miss the days when Indy 500 drivers could innovate-when cars showed up at Indy with 6 wheels, front engines, rear engines, 4 cylinder, 6,8,10,12. When the turbine car went by and all you heard in the grandstands was its whoosh! Compared to those days all racing series now run cookie cutter cars. Yes, Nascar, open wheel and F1. If it was 1970 again guys like Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, the Busch brothers, Kevin Harvick-they would all be in Indy cars.

You're comparing Kyle Busch to Ayrton Senna?

In pure unadulterated talent. Yup. And Tim Richmond too. And I am a Senna fan.

Good post. I can't agree with all that you said*, but you articulated your position well.

*I think drivers like Ryan Hunter-Reay, Will Power, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti and Rubens Barrichello are enormously skilled.

Less than a week until "The Greatest Show on Wheels" returns: Australia's V8 Supercars!

Battles for 12th and 13th in V8 Supercars have been more exciting then Sunday's Daytona 500...

I'm so excited to see them come to America in May!

I have tickets to the NW race at Mid-Oh, the Indy 500, The Brickyard 400, and the Honda Indy 200.

Last year I went to the Indy 500, the Honda Indy 200, the Brickyard 400, the Bank of America 400 at Charlotte, the Grand-Am races at Mid-OH and the Brickyard, the ALMS at Mid-OH, the AMA races at Mid-OH, and a few more.

I enjoy all sorts of racing, even when they only turn left.

I enjoyed the Daytona 500, they are just getting used to the new cars. The last ten laps where as good as any.

Fans gripe when they had a tandem push, now they gripe when they're not.

I reject restrictor plates have anything to do with it, WOT is WOT, regardless of the throttle size. If they mandated 450 cfm carbs it would be the same thing, they don't, because it would be too hard to measure.

What I, personally, think happened is they both lifted for just a moment, thinking there was going to be a caution thrown. At Daytona (and Talladega), it only takes that fraction of a second off the gas to drop in the pack.

Never ceases to amaze how many people seem to WANT Patrick to fail....
Referring to my quote as you used in your post. I DON'T want her to fail, quite the opposite. I was thrilled to see a woman lead Daytona for the first time! I was put off at the beginning of the race when the pinhead (imho) said "Gentlemen, and Danica start your engines." She's a driver at that point, not a man or woman.
I'm surprised that no one made an issue of that. My comments were pertaining to a rookie mistake, not gender.

More power to Danica and all women that follow in her footsteps.

Tell me..

Are they still running 500 MILES??

Or is it 500 kilometers, or is it laps??

Maybe they run just so many hours??

Things sure changed when they went from Cubic Inches to Litres..

Hell, the next thing you know they'll be drag racing at an 1/8 of a mile..

THAT would never happen.. would it??

ZZZZZzzzzzzz.....

So, you're saying you know nothing about NASCAR, right?

500 is a "magic number" for NASCAR race-names. Some of them (like Daytona) are 500 miles. Some of them (like Bristol) are laps. They don't race based on time - last year's Daytona 500 covered something in the neighborhood of 36 hours.

Engines are EFI V8, with a maximum displacement of 358 cubic inches.

I'm not sure if you're seriously asking questions, or just throwing crap out for the helluvit...

That is NOT what he said. He said "Drivers... and Danica, start your engines".

See how easy it was for you to make a mistake sitting at your computer in the comfort of your own home? It's a lot different when he was saying it in front of millions of people all over the world.

It's easy to understand how he could make that mistake, if you aren't just looking to find fault in someone.

I thought he said "drivers and Danica?" Gentleman and Danica would have been fine with me, and it likely what was meant to be sad.
