old stock 270 Win ammo
I picked up 26 boxes of 270 ammo from a huge lot at an estate auction. It's old stock stuff, seems to be in great condition, no tarnishing.
Here is the thing..... I don't own a 270, I am trying to decide if I should be a 270 or just sell the ammo.
I have an encore and a contender so I could get a barrel. Just thought I would get some professional opinions.

Excellent deer hunting round. If you hunt I would keep them. If not, sell them to finance other ammo that you could use or for reloading supplies.

Here' s a thought. Trade the ammo for calibers you use and need.

I listed it locally and no takers so far.

The way ammo is now, I'd keep it. Even if you don't have that round, it's price will continue to rise and will be a GREAT investment.

Seems like a great reason to get a .270.

True, the ammo he has right now will be worth more than the price of the gun.

Seems like a guy with 4.3 billion posts would already have one of everything.

Gotta agree, there. I would hang onto it, too.

I know. For the record it's a database glitch and they are trying to fix it.
If I had that many I surely couldn't have a job and therefore, wouldn't have many guns cause I would be broke.
But.... I would have an obama phone!!

I would buy a gun to solve the problem.
I had a box and half of .308 so I ordered a 308 .

Was thinking there was no reason to buy a .270 rifle, with that many posts, certainly, you'd never have time to shoot!
For a rifle, I'd look in the used market, for an older Remington 700.

Interesting to see all of the .270 loads are 130 grain. Reminds me of reading Jack O'Connor as a kid.

That's right JO and his 130gr .270s. He shot every big game species in North America with that load.

The .270 is a GREAT cartridge. You said you have a TC Encore???? I think I'd get a .270bbl for it. Once you shoot it some I think you'll come to like it. It shoots flat & doesn't peel the hide off your shoulder shooting it.
Congratulations..... get the bbl!

Get a Winchester Model 70. The rifle and caliber were made for each other.

So true - it has some eighty years of history to back it up.

Well, I sold the ammo. I got a fair price and paid some bills.
