M*A*S*H. Whenever the show would come on, my son ( around 2 years old at the time) would stop what he was doing and run to the TV to watch and listen to the intro.
I always have memories of it.

I agree with Miami Vice. Also, Justified. From the 70's, Dukes of H***ard was also a good one.

The Squidbillies intro. Terrible show, awesome intro.
The Highlander TV series
Mostly for having Queen in it.
This old show that I can't even remember anything about except for the opening.
While I'm more of a CSI fan, Law & Order always had such a classic feel to its opening.
And who can forget Bill Nye the Science Guy
And of the many many seasons of Transformers (going on 30 years now if you count all iterations)
My favorite was Season 2.
Mostly because they really 80'sed it up for that one.
And in something more recent. Avengers. Season 1 intro (they really screwed it up in season 2)
It's not only a good song, but also functions as a mini episode that tells you the premise of the series and all the major players.
Now if you want to get into Anime, we're going to be here for a while. I couldn't even name my top favorites in any reasonable length, so I'll just throw in a couple of random selections.
Bomb A head the opening to Tenjoy Tenge. It has absolutely nothing to do with the series.
And the ever solid intro to Outlaw Star

southland. the music is actually rather interesting, followed by a flash forward to a random spot in the show's episode that goes still and has a rather poignant statement made.

The opening of Jack of All Trades. Catchy theme song, buxom lasses, and Bruce Campbell swashbuckling around in a cape and mask. The show itself was fun, but the intro really stands apart.
