School Me on HK91

Can anyone school me on HK91s?

What makes a HK91 superior to HK91 Clones or parts kits CETMEs?

Is the 3-4X price premium for an HK91 worth it?

I have found a "good deal" on HK91 and am just curious what more one gets say than a PTR.

Many of the "parts kit" CETMEs I have heard range from pure junk to can be not-so-bad.

Factory HK rifles will always command a premium because there is a fixed supply. All the parts are correct and they were all factory built.

Clones are another story. You have authorized factory clones like the Greek and Portuguese ones, and non factory clones like the PTR and Century built guns.

The critical dimensio on the HK locking roller design it the bolt gap. To put it in loose terms the gap has to be bigger than zero, but not larger than the max spec. Century 'fixed' their builds that wouldn't pass inspection by grinding the bolt to make the gap larger.

As ling as the parts were assembeled by a good shop, it should be a good rifle. The problem is HK assembly is more complicated that jusf screwing stuff together and required special tools and skills.

If your not too anal about having an original, you may be pleased and satisfied with the PTR. I think it's an awesome rifle and very accurate. I don't remember the utmost details, but I believe PTR purchase the tooling from H&K to make their rifles. A quick call to http://www.ptr91.com and you can verify the details.
