I don't think its taxable yet. I believe high end plans will be taxable in forward years, and unless they figure out how to disable this cluster**** of socialism, someone will eventually suggest and push thru taxing all of it.

Who did you think was going to pay for all that "free" national healthcare for the unwashed masses?

The first thing I ask is, "Did you vote for obama?"
If the answer is "Yes", I say, "You asked for it".
The shame is the rest of us have to get screwed to.
Look on the bright side, your taxes are helping to pay for the many 10 million dollar vacations the obama's take a year.

He's right.
The health care reform provision states that an excise tax will be imposed on any benefits provided to employees that exceed $10,200 for an individual, and $27,500 for a family. The tax is scheduled to go into effect in 2018.

Don't forget the 20 million uninvited guest workers and their families soon to be dedicated Democrat voters.

Employer provided health care is not taxable income.

If you stop and use some basic logic -
The fact your employer PAYS FOR SOMETHING you want instead of you paying for it yourself - it would fit the definition of income.
I say charge you FICA taxes on it as well.
I have been paying between $10 and 15K per year for medical insurance - this was with a $10K deductible.
I didn't get any deduction for it either -
So why should one person get a tax free employer paid benefit and the other guy pay out of his own pocket and get no deduction?
If you really want to know - the fact that we have had such a messed up employer paid health insurance system is a big reason outr medical costs are so freaking high.
So many employees got "free" health insurance - they did not care how much the medical cost was -
I was just as guilty when I was covered under my employer.
I was using non generic BP meds - I did not even know how much they cost - didn't care -
Then I went out on my own -
Found out the two meds were costing over $200 a month.
It took me about 2 minutes to change over to generic -

Completely agree. The current system is unfair to those who pay for their own insurance with post tax dollars and has wreaked havoc on the market for health care.

I think I figured out how Obama got elected. People can neither read nor reason.
However you got there, you are correct, you are getting screwed, just not how and when you think.
Here is Obama's big secret. It is one that I have not heard anyone really talk about but I am convinced is the truth. Every one assumes that he just disagrees about what is best and how to do things but at bottom he is the president so he has to be trying to make things better. He is not. He is trying to make things as bad as possible. If he can, he will make them suck for everyone and blame it on the GOP, but that is just the icing. For the first time in our history we have a president who is not "well intentioned but misguided, "well intentioned but not smart enough" or just on the other side of the political spectrum. This man is out to destroy America so that it can be rebuilt the way he and his supporters want it. That means we all have to be poor and need what he is willing to give us so bad that we will sell ourselves into slavery to feed our families or get the medical care our loved ones need.
I am convinced that Obama is the first president who will go down in the history books as both insane and evil. (If there are any history books not written by the Ministry of Truth)
He is so self involved and out of touch that he is like Pol Pot, so obsessed with his vision that he doesn't care how many people he hurts as long as he can implement the agenda that he believes in.

Nope. It's just listed on your W2. It's not added to your taxable income and you're not taxed on it.

The tax deduction for health benefits is fairly recent. If you think about it, there's no real reason why what your employer spends on your health insurance should or shouldn't be "tax-deductible."
The right answer, of course, is to get the government out of the business of health insurance altogether. But your outrage at an additional item appearing on your W2, combined with your utter ignorance of what it means or how it affects your taxes, isn't accomplishing much.

Every year when my wife's employer sends her new contract, they list her actual pay and effective pay: FICA, insurance, 401k contribution, short term disability. While I hate the thought of being taxed for some of those items, it is very enlightening to see what the true cost of the employee is to the employer.

Years ago the ratio was usually estimated at about 1.5-1.75 to 1. If you made a dollar, it cost your employer 1.5-1.75 to keep you. I have no idea what it is now, I doubt if it is less.

I often calculate fiscal notes for proposed legislation, depending on the state, it can be up to 2x for a new state gov employee. So, $75,000 a year in salary will be a total cost of $150,000. Most states it is common to still use 1.5x.

Both the amount withheld from your paycheck and your employers contribution to your employer provided health care insurance is tax free income.

This will not happen, and I can prove it. Just compare the Soviet experiment in communism with our own. Lenin (their first communist leader) is nowadays treated as the "noble", idealistic communist leader, while all who followed him "perverted" his otherwise righteous revolutionary achievements.
This is how our first communist revolutionary leader will be described once our Brave New Experiment fails (only after the mass murders by the state fail to achieve the promised Utopia, of course.)
