I bought a new Glock 19 Gen 3 from my local store. However I ordered 2 - 15 round Gen4 mags from an online store and when I got them they look exactly like the mags that came with my gun. They have cutouts on both sides of the magazine. So did I get a Gen 3 gun with 2 - Gen 4 mags?
Well... Glock only makes the one magazine now. It has dual cut outs for use with the Gen4 if the mag release is reversed. So really there is no gen3 or gen4 mags... just new production mag that is included with both gens.
My newer Gen 3 G17 has mags with cut outs on both sides as well as in the middle. These will fit both Gen 3 & 4. No doubt they are making all new mags to fit all generations.

Exactly, the current production magazine is compatible will all generations of Glocks... it's really not a "Gen 4" mag, it's just a current production magazine that is compatible with the current production firearms.
