I lost my only brother to suicide a few years ago. My mom never recovered from it. I almost went nuts myself from blaming myself for not preventing it. Here is what i have learned. Take it for what it is worth:
My brother was not a victim. The victims were left behind. Suicide is a selfish act that places untold suffering upon family that is left behind. There is NO problem or trial in life that cannot be faced and dealt with dignity if a person has a desire to do so. Because of his unwillingness to deal constructively with life's issues; children have no daddy,a wife has no husband, a mother has no son, and I have no brother. I loved my brother and still do but it was his choice alone to allow his life to get in such a mess that he chose not to face it.
Your brother made his choice; so did mine. I choose to see my children married, hold my grandkids, watch the flowers bloom again in the spring, and face whatever God has for me as I grow old. Life is good.

Smoke, I'm glad the service was worthy of your brother, and I hope time is easing your pain. You and your family are still in my prayers.

Unless you've been there you have no idea what you are talking about.

I am very sorry for your loss.

I lost my best friend to suicide 15 yr's ago. It was through that experience that I learnt that genuine depression is a very serious disease, it can be genetic, and that it can take people as any disease can. I try to remember him for the strength he showed fighting something I will never understand.

My prayers go out to you and his family.

I'm sorry. I lost my brother suddenly almost three years ago now. It is very hard, and I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but it does get better with time to some degree.

I've been there and know what I'm talking about. I also know that there are better places to say what you did than in a thread where a man has just lost his brother.

There is a ton of work to do with his estate. Even though my older brother has that job, there is still much for me to do also. I woke up in the early hours this morning dreaming about all that needs to be done. I was over whelmed with feelings of helplessness. I have also been waking up at nearly the same time every nigh, and although they told us they think he died late at night, I feel that the time I am waking up may be the time he took his life. It is always at 3:00 am.

Might want to do a search on the spiritual significance of the time 3 AM. Maybe it's just a coincidence, and then again, maybe it had some bearing on it happening at that time.

I'll give you a clue: Christ died at 3 PM.
