New Zealand video on background checks

This video is awesome, as the gun collector tells a good story and makes an important point.

His point is authority likes to send a warning message to others by using a lot of force on the person unlucky enough to be caught in a technicality.

When laws and the use of force come together, the penalty can be huge even in areas common sense would say the law wasn't intended.

For example, he and another gun collector, both with the same type of valid license, can't shoot each other's guns at the range because it violates the registration, background check, and transfer rules of New Zealand.

Universal background checks here in America, along with the forced registration to support the checks, could create the same situation in the US. You won't be able to shoot your buddy's gun at your backyard range (Schumer's bill makes that illegal). Nor would you be able to loan your gun to your brother-in-law for hunting (Schumer's bill makes that illegal). Nor would you be able to leave guns at home with your wife while you take an extended business trip (Schmumer's bill would consider that an illegal gun transfer).

Perhaps this video was too intellectual for GT

If nothing else, that guy is super cool and looks to have an awesome gun collection.

Not to reveal any specifics, so you can talk about immigrants in general if you want, but I'm curious if you have any problems getting guns or a concealed carry license since coming to the US.

Heck, a born citizen would still have to wait a year after moving to NYS before applying for a pistol permit.

And as in the video, we have to be careful about using each other's handguns, because they are specifically listed on our permits by serial number.
