Well, put it this way: I don't think my kids would have had a place to live if I hadn't been paying child support. She's on her fifth new car in 7 years and she doesn't work, so I'm pretty sure my dollars get spent on more than just the kids' immediate needs, but what can you do?
|
maybe drop more money on a lawyer and get your kids? i dont know your life circumstances so im really just asking, not being a smartass about it.
i had to go thru a BRUTAL, (i mean eye gougingly where you cringe when you hear it pop brutal) child custody case.
my lawyer ripped her apart on the stand, so much so that, when i got on the stand, swore in, answered who i was, where i worked etc...
her lawyer asked for a recess and she gave in. my lawyer totally nuked her lousy ass and i had a petty feeling of happiness about it, still do to a point after all the schit she did to my kid.
i dropped about $10k on that plus another 3-4k i didnt have. money well spent IMO.

No, but it is is supposed to. You are right. Some people shouldn't own a gold fish let alone have a child.

I can't help but notice you live in Texas. If you are co-habitating Texas says you're common-law married.

In the case of the arrest, the family took in a girl who had been sexually abused. She came on to the man and when he declined her advances, she falsely accused him of molesting her. He was presumed guilty. He eventually beat the charges but not before it cost him his reputation and almost cost him his marriage.
I adopted a one year old boy. I can tell you that the waiting list can be very long for a baby unless you spend a lot of money and get one from outside the US.

There are horror stories, sure. But, I have seen more positives than negatives from people who have. It is only the negative ones that make the news; because, afterall that is all the news really wants to report.

I'm gonna leave that pile alone.
My marriage is gasping its last, dying breaths. And thats a good thing, we kept it on life support for far to long. Caused a lot of misery and heartache that wasn't necessary.
I won't say I'll never do it again, but the odds are low and the lady would have to be very special. And the marital situation would be very different than this time.

I was interested in this discussion until I saw that a Tom Leykis opinion was being taken seriously.

I always like it when Leykis comes up in GNG. Lots of woman haters here who like to take dating advice from the guy who's been arrested for domestic abuse.

It is funny how when you get a good paying job your support goes up the first check but when you lose a job it takes six to nine months to get an adjustment hearing. Moral to the story: Never marry a local .GOV official. Ugh!
I feel your pain and commend you for hanging in there ... thirty six years here (17 + 19). I know it has been tough for me but I only have ninety-four days left to go.
I really thought the space rock was going to get me, I am on death watch after that last payment.

I haven't listened to Tom Leykis in years, so does he still promote "Flash Friday"? I was once a first-hand witness to a topless gal getting mobbed in a parking lot in Tempe, AZ on Flash Friday - There was like 50+ cars and a dozen cops!
Best Wishes! Pecos Bill out.

That's what I said after #1; went 18 years before meeting this one. I tell people if she were any easier to get along with I'd have to be gay 'cause she'd be another man.

It's just not for me.
I am never getting married. I don't hate women by any means, but I don't see any advantage to marriage for me.
Of course I might reconsider if I find a sugar-mama who is seeking a trophy husband.

I am married, but I understand well that men stand to lose so much while women only stand to gain.
