However, when it comes to roads, Texas is incredible. I've been living in the stone age all my life. Texas is serious when it comes to accommodating motor vehicles, and facilitating vital commerce throughout the state.

Born Texan here, still living in Texas because good jobs are available and I have been fortunate to have a good job my whole life living in Texas. Texas has NO STATE INCOME TAX, one of only a handful of states smart enough to know that a state income tax is bad. I very much agree with you about the Texas heat, summers are brutal in Texas, no doubt, however, the very mild winters that we usually have are very nice, pick your poison. Texas is a huge state with beauty everywhere, from the Texas hill country, the panhandle, and the Big Bend area of West Texas. Texas has hundreds of miles of beaches, best beaches are in the Padre Island/Corpus Christi area. A strong economy, great job market, mild winters, and a lot of diverse and beautiful country. There is a reason why a whole lot of people are moving TO Texas instead of moving AWAY from Texas. The below picture was taken at Big Bend National Park, Sunset at the Window, view from Chisos Mountain Lodge.

I live in Atlanta and love it. People are nice here. The weather is great, though it does get warm in the summer. Traffic is not really all that bad, unless you live in the burbs and are trying to commute into the city. If you live in the city proper, it's easy enough to get around. Certainly nothing like Northern Virginia, where I lived for years and fled like a rat leaving a sinking ship. Northern Virginia is intolerable.

I was raised in the Cleveland area and lived in Michigan above
Ann Arbor from 1980-1990. I love Michigan and the people are very friendly. You just have to avoid Ann Arbor, Flint, Detroit, etc and you can enjoy the real Michigan.

All that we want from Louisiana are the casinos and we can get them easier by swiping them from Oklahoma.

Those that disaparage the land of Superior, the UP, forget what a wonderful delicacy a properly-made pasty is.
Only downside, everything will be covered in iron dust in 3.41 femtoseconds and during the summer one does not use a fly swatter for the deer flies. A baseball bat works mostly, but even Russian SAMs have been known to be ineffective.

I got a kick out of the clown from Ohio dissing MI--all summer long the most common out of state plates are OH. I doubt many MI people vacation in OH.

I'm from Ohio and love Michigan.
I see you're from NW lower MI. You might have a slightly different opinion if you were from NE lower Mi.

Did you mean SE lower MI? The NE part of the lower is decent, but the Lake Huron shoreline isn't nearly as interesting or pretty as the Lake MI shore.

I stashed my little Kershaw in my shoe...
then we rounded the last turn and it's a full on airport magnetron.
I pulled out the knife and held it up to security, the lady at the gate said ask the cop on the other side for it. I was hoping for an amnesty bag or what not.
He says "This is illegal in NYC. Are you PD/FIRE/US soldier"? I reply that I'm not. He says he can confiscate it or we can call involve the police. I tell him to enjoy the pocketknife I've carried for a good ten years. Wanted to tell him that back home in Reasonableville I carry a gun, but followed the GT rule and kept my mouth shut.
We got back to the car (our rental), BIL parked just into a bus zone, the city got us for a $150 parking ticket and a $40 pocketknife. I won't get into the bill at NOBU but my sister in law is never to order dinner again. Ever.
|
I can relate. I've probably been to New York City a hundred times on business and a couple for fun when my wife wanted to go. Every time, I hoped it was my last trip there. God help us if New Yorkers ever leave there and move to where you are and find out every place isn't like that (that's how we lost Florida ).

After Katrina we formed a committee to solve our socioeconomic problems. As a result we drafted a plan to declare war on Texas and then immediately surrender to be annexed.

Mayhaps it would have been wiser to surrender to Mississippi? You could trade them alligators for ... for ... well, heck. Mississippi has nothing to trade and they already have casinos.

We looked to our east, looked to our north and looked to our west. The only one that wasn't a bad deal was west

Good thing you didn't conquer Arkansas or we'd never let you surrender.

I think we should just give New England back to Russia. And if they won't take them, either China or North Korea.

Unit1069, That photo was taken at Big Bend National Park, Sunset at the Window, view from Chisos Mountain Lodge.
I can't take credit for that beautiful picture, but I have been at the Chisos Mountain Lodge in B.B.N.P. at the spot where the picture was taken. Cabin #103 at the lodge faces this beautiful spot in the Chisos Mountains. Here is a beautiful night picture full of stars in Big Bend National Park...

Kim Jong Un will flee the country and renounce dictatorship after 10 minutes with Nancy Pelosi.
The Chinese will have to build a new wall to keep the New England elite away.
