E-bay is a joke
I was selling something for 150 opening bid, or 200 buy it now. Some maggot selected buy it now, but opted never to pay me. So I was stuck not selling this item for over a week. I had to wait four days, then open a "case". A "case" is nothing. They do nothing.
The buyer never paid and I cannot leave negative feedback on his profile. It is complete bs. So I should just bid for whatever I like and if it's too much who cares, ebay won't make a big deal of it right?

Sorry to hear this. I've never dealt with E Bay, only craigslist. I block my email on CL, and post my number. If a live person can't contact me locally and bring me cash I want no part of it.
I don't have paypal, don't plan on it. Just saying, the method I've used in the past has worked out pretty well for me. I've dealt with some BS texters/callers in the past but beats the alternative IMO.

I quit selling on eBay a couple years back when they changed the feedback system so that you couldn't leave negative on a buyer. They've now taken the payment options away as well, it's good for buyers, the system is trash for sellers though

Yep- That solves that... I've owned a full time business on ebay for going on 9 years now. There are things that I absolutely HATE about it, but many more that I LOVE.

Yeah I sent him one message a day. I had to wait 4 days after he selected buy it now and then opened a case. Then another four days for the case to be closed, which got me nothing. Then I was able to relist the item.

Funny, I'm selling an item on there now as well and I had someone retract a bid. I didn't even know you could do that. I thought a bid was a bidding contract. He listed as the reason that he couldn't contact the seller...which is BS. No messages, no emails.

I still manage a 100% positive feedback selling gun parts and gunsmith tools and make good money there. The OP just needs to let the system work. Whining about it here won't do much.

I just had this happen as well. Plus I had other bidders which made it more irritating. Supposedly the buyer gets a negative mark on their account.

Why can't you leave negative feedback?

So if I'm a seller all I have to do,is create a fake account for buying stuff then I can screw up my competitors by bidding on their stuff and now paying or retracting bids and claiming the buyer was unresponsive?
Sounds like a setup for failure.

Buyers drive the Ebay economy, not sellers. It only makes since that everything is slanted toward protecting the buyer. It is also the natural order of this type of business that the seller is more likely the scammer as opposed to the buyer if there is a problem.

I have been successfully selling stuff for years on eBay, it can befrustrating there are a lot of flakes. You can require that bidders have acertain level of feedback, require immediate payment with Paypal (Fixed &Buy it now) this helps but by no means eliminates the BS.

What do you want them to do? They will refund your listing cost and ding the buyer with a non-paying bidder which can result in their account getting suspended depending on their history.
Same with retracting a bid, it is a ding against them and if there is a pattern they will suspend the account. Just set the auction so Buy It Now requires immediate payment to process, problem solved.

Ebay is a multi-billion dollar enterprise. Why should they care about you?
