Good news- Bad news
Good news--My local gun shop has lots of 9mm ammo on hand.
Bads news- They have it priced for $29.99 for a box of 50 PMC 115 grain full metal jacket.
More than double the price of a couple months ago.

Ouch. At least you can find it, everybody is out around me. Takes the fun out of going to the range when you have to bend over at the ammo counter to get there.

Would you rather 29.99 available or 12.99 out of stock?

Not much difference-- both would spell the end to my target shooting.
But i guess i would prefer the $29.99--- once my cupboard is bare, i would buy one box for 29.99 and have it for home defense and carry only

I agree. The price will come down as soon as the spike in demand is over. a lot of the hoarders I've seen don't look like are going to be using up their stash at the range. They will probably fill up their cupboard and never look at it again.

It's actually not bad over here on the west side. Gander is high but my work hasn't raised their prices one penny. The problem is the company isn't sending us any. I want to buy some 9mm but I've got 150 rounds right now so I'm ok.

I paid $25 for a box of 100 WWB 9mm at my local Walmart yesterday. At the same time, bought a box of 100 WWB .45 for $40. First time I've seen either in a month.

I have to guess if one owned a small gun store that getting a regular supply of ammunition is more difficult right now, which means that one could not sell as much as he wants at regular prices, so to keep income up more profit per box must be had. I am not thrilled with the cuirrent ammunition prices any more than I am thrilled with the price of a new Landcruiser. Fortunately I am not in the market for the latter and I have enough of the former for now. I do however like our system of a free market far more than any other system I have read about.

I'm so glad that many years ago everytime I saw a really big sale on 9mm I picked up 5-10 boxes... even though I had thousands of rounds at the time.
Am I the only one who stocked up years ago (that is years before any ammo shortage crisis)?

I agree, this is a very smart approach. With what i have on hand plus reloading components i have, i am a long way from needing any $30 box of 50 9mm plinking ammo.
But being the hoarder and miser I am and wanting to have a good supply always on hand, it is still hard for me to go out and do much blasting right now knowing that when my supply does finally dry up, it will be hard/very expensive to replace.

A fool and his money are parted at those prices.
Prices cannot stay that high. The bubble will burst.
Lesson to all - never have less than a 1 year supply of ammo on hand at all times. I still have plenty of 9mm UMC 250 round value packs I bought on sale a few years back for, get this, $29.99 on sale!!!

I agree. I'm shooting less these days. I would think most people are shooting less...... especially those who are shooting $30 a box ammo...
