Why? So you can have thin walled .40 cases that will probably be destroyed by the 65,000CP blast the first time you fire it? Why court catastrophic case failure?

Yeah, not a good idea. A bullet setback would almost be guaranteed as the case would be very thin @ the mouth. With all the 40 around, why would anyone even think of this? If you have a bunch, trade it. I haven't bought 9mm or 40 brass in years, way too much of it around the ranges on the ground.

How are you going to expand the neck to .40"? Loading .357sig brass to fire form to .40 doesn't make any sense. No expander mandrel available that I know of. Even if you get the brass to proper size it will have to be trimmed down to .40 brass OAL as .357sig brass is longer.

Well a mandrel is easy, just taper a 40 expander down to 35. The real problem is the brass will thin as it expands. Trimming may not be needed as the case does shrink as teh mouth dia increases, but the small shoulder also has to go someplace. All in all, not a really good idea when there is so much 40 available.

Thanks all, "thinning out" the mouth was what I was concerned about the most. I will trade off.... Or do I need a 40-357 barrel? Hmmmmm....

The .357sig is cheaper to reload if you are using jacketed bullets. Cast and palted are usually slightly cheaper also if you get the right profile. Uses less lead if you are casting bullets, but you need a bullet profile (mold) that will work well with the small neck on the .357sig case. I have both .40 and .357 barrels.
