For my g23, I managed to sneak 3 crayons from my little girls collection and mark the grooves of the magazines. This is useful to identify/keep track of fail to feeds, maintenance, cartridge types...etc. Especially helpful when you're at the range,have a limited amount of mags, and want to keep shooting.






It's better than scotch tape, looks kinda cool, and will last a while. (Plz don't make fun of my coloring)

I'm interested what other tips and tricks you all use

Those are "preban" mags. Where did you get them, and where are the mags that came with the gun?

Those are NOT preban magazines. Preban mags will have the .40 down lower and they have 2 dimples towards the bottom.

The two with the arrows are preban so is the one just to the left. Notice the caliber writing is lower and the two dimples above the 16/17 round windows.

I've also noticed on my pre ban g23 mags the counter windows are aligned with each other and not staggered like newer ones

I color my mags as well. A lot of people shoot Glocks and I dont want anyone walking away with my mags at the range.

I use Pearce floor plates on all my mags and they typically have 5 indent circles on the bottom. I use light pink or white finger nail polish, filling in one or more dimples to differentiate them apart.

I keep close track of the performance of each of my magazines as well.

I use a silver Sharpie and number each on the side. The marks don't last forever, but long enough to remark before it disappears.

It also helps me track the monthly duty mag swap out. Odd numbered mags for odd number months, ect.

Mag bands and restrictions are different state to state. In Arizona where I am from there is no restriction on mag capacity. You could carry a Glock with a 33rd mag if you wanted to. You can have 100rd drums for AR's and AK's ect so the 30rd mags are not and issue at all and hopefully that will not change. Arizona just past a state law that protect law abiding residents from having any of there guns rights taken including mags and assault rifles. My G23 came with 13rd mags and if you buy and new Glock here it will come with 2-3 mags that are full capacity not the 10rd ones.

I have two LE mags for a 21. They are labeled LE/GOVT only and are dated 1994.

Nice idea! I seen it done here and there with different types of guns but maybe I'll do that with my glock 23 13 round clips.
