So you Think you should be able to own whatever the military has?

Not that I have specifically looked for this answer but I find it strange no one has mentioned it that I've heard. why does no one bring up the fact that soldiers don't even really get to have these guns. They are securely locked away in the armory until range practice or in times of combat. I'm not some Libby suck-tard are anything like that. Just trying to start a good debate tonight.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Just noticed Erics' warning. Feel free to move this thread or close it or whatever.

I actually carried my m-16 or M203 or M-60 every day. It was my duty weapon. Just correcting when we actually used it.

However, I will gladly pass on what they carry now, if I can have what they phased out...91mm recoiless rifle sounds pretty cool.

I think any law-abiding civilian should be able to own any small arm utilized by the military. And by small arm, I mean any hand or shoulder-fired weapon, up to and including a crew-served machine gun, that discharges a non-explosive projectile. I draw the line at items such as grenades, RPGs, mortars, shoulder-fired missiles, etc., which I believe are rightfully classified as destructive devices and/or artillery pieces.

I'm on your side.

CIWS (Close-In Weapon System), pronounced "see-wiz".

It's the same gun that rides in the teen-series US fighters, the M-61 Vulcan 20mm cannon, with a radar mounted on top. 6,000 rounds per minute of lead wall.

Ha, I can't spell.

EDIT: It's not even spelling... I can't construct an acronym. But now that I look at it, if it's CIWS, why do they pronounce it "cee-whiz"?

I think citizens should be able to own RPGs and the like. They'd be necessary should the citizenry ever be forced into a confrontation with their own government.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced that way simply because it sounds more natural than trying to enunciate /see i wsss/. And, now that I look at it, CI could be pronounced /see/ and WS could be pronounced /wsss/ ~ /wiz/.

I think we should also be allowed to own grenades, RPGs, mortars, shoulder-fired missiles, so long as A. We can afford it, B. We can properly store it, C. We're not ****ed in the head and D. It's use will not negatively affect anybody else. So if you want to fire your Bazooka at 3am, you better have a ton of land on all sides, so the sound won't disturb other people.

Oh, and try to clean up your mess in the morning.

It is pronounced anyway the guy running it says it is pronounced.

I love how it can sit barrels down, then a target gets in range and they pop up - HOOOOOOONK - BOOM and then back down.

I have never had any desire to own any of the tank transporters, self propelled guns, artillery ammunition, fifty cal machine guns and many other forms of heavy military equipment that I have used in my army service. I would gladly own the M16s, MAGs, Galils and other small arms that I could carry however.

You never wanted to own a Ma Deuce? HEATHEN!!!

Now, granted, feeding it would be horrendously expensive, but totally fun with enough dead cars and tannerite.

I'd want one if I could carry it and its ammo.

"Metal Storm" is a new tech that "stacks" bullets on top of eachother in multiple barrels and fires them all electronically, no moving parts except for bullets. theoretical rate of fire of 1,000,000 rounds per minute, if that could be sustained, which it can't.

"CIWS" is the R2D2 looking dome thing atop a gattling gun
